Melona dusted off the cover of the book. The title "Briar Academy Legends and Secrets" was written on the cover in an old, stylized font. The author's name appeared to start with an "L," but years of neglect among the stacks had worn away the rest of the letters. Out of curiosity, Melona thumbed through the first couple of pages, trying to find when this book was written. Her search turned up nothing, but did lead her to start reading the second page of the book's forward.
--that if a school of duelists should have an abundance of misplaced foils and sabers, and if a guild of craftsmen should be replete with forgotten masterworks, then it naturally follows that an academy of witches should be practically brimming with objects and creatures of immense arcane power. As the Academy's foremost historian, I hope that I may elucidate readers as to the most obscure and fascinating tales of this noble institution.
