Despite your small size you led a great life. Some would say that it is tough going through life as the size of an infant but you always made the most out of it. Your charming personality meant you were always popular in school, now into your late 20s you had a successful career as a teacher. You were well liked by your students and respected for your abilities. Some people speculated before long you could become a school principal while others wanted you to be more ambitious, branch out to the private sector and make big money. Either way you had a bright future ahead of you. But one thing that always bothered you is that your life lacked adventure. You’d focused on your studies through high school and university, you’d done a small bit of traveling but never anything too exotic. Now you were in a comfortable stage of your life, earning good money and well established in your career, you thought now was the chance to take a risk!
You’d always been interested in living in Asia and had found a great opportunity to work in South East Asia teaching English to some of those countries' poorest students. The pay wasn’t great but it was your way to give back, after all you’ve had a very fortunate life.
Before long you found yourself on a flight to the other side of the world. You were not only excited to begin but to embrace the challenge of living in a foreign country for the first time in your life.
Where will you be teaching?
- A bustling and crowded South East Asian city
- In a rural and mountainous area, probably moving between a few small villages
- Seaside town, by the beach and a bit more relaxed. There may be some tourists here too
