When we got home, all my friends were there. "To what do we owe the pleasure?" Mom asked.
"They just showed up," Cait replied. "Mom, I didn't tell them anything, I swear."
"I texted them," I explained. "They've been invited."
"John?" Dan asked. "What happened? You don't sound like yourself."
"And what's with that wig?" Becky asked.
"It's not a wig," I replied. "It's all my hair. As for my voice: it's changing, along with the rest of me."
"What's going on?" Mel asked.
"As strange as it sounds,... I'm turning into a girl."
"What?!" Dan asked. "Why? How?"
"Are you trans?" Becky asked.
"It's not like that," I explained. "I wasn't born like Mel was; my body is actually changing sex."
"How is this happening?" Mel asked.
"The doctor says it's something called Orlando Syndrome. I was born with it, apparently. I spent fourteen years as a boy; then, this thing woke up inside me, and I started changing." I took a deep breath. "Besides my hair and voice, I'm an inch shorter than I was, and I've lost a good chunk of weight. And I'm growing a uterus."
"Can they stop it?" Dan asked.
"No more than they can stop me from growing up. Someday soon, I'll have to start living as a girl. I'll need to choose a new name. I'll have to start looking at girls' clothes."
Becky stood up, walked up to me, and put a hand on my shoulder. "You won't have to go through this alone, John. I'll be with you."
Mel repeated the gesture. "Me, too."
Keiko hugged me. "I am with you, John."
Dan came up to me. "If you need my help, dude,... you've got it."
Grateful for my friends, I stood up, and pulled everyone into a group hug.
When I touched Dan, I... I got an erection.
Was I already thinking of boys as the opposite sex?
