Amy was feeling just a little… unfulfilled as of late. And for a while she couldn’t pin down why. She had her family, her job and all in all a pretty good life, but there was still some itch she just couldn’t scratch. But then one morning she came to a sudden realization. As she watched her oldest daughter, Teddy, feed her youngest, Charlie, her breakfast in her high chair she recognized it. She saw in that moment that the discontent she’d been feeling was a prolonged form of… envy.
She was jealous of her own baby. Of the way she received all this attention and love from the rest of the family, was this how Gabe felt when Charlie was first born? Amy didn’t feel any resentment, of course. Merely a chronic dissatisfaction with her own state of being.
And after she saw it for what it was the first time Amy couldn’t escape this ever-present Envy. Every time Charlie was praised, coddled, played with or generally loved her mom wished that could have been her. One time she even found herself Jealous of Charlie during a diaper change. Cause well… no one would ever jump at the chance to clean up after any of her hypothetical dirty diapers. Or would they?
So what eventually gave Amy the idea to jump tracks into becoming the baby of the family?
