why would the prim and proper Pearl act like a baby?

Maybe its for relaxation. She saw how carefree Steven was as an infant and decided to act like a baby, finding it help manage her immense stress. Even as Steven grew up she kept playing like a baby. Of course, its not 24/7, but if she doesn't have anything to do she retreats to her hidden nursery and babs out for a while. It's her secret shame.

Or maybe it's something else. like maybe its a punishment for something she did (cough Sardonoyx cough) or she runs into some malfunctioning gem tech that babyfies her.
