Chapter #4

Objectification

    by: Hole Author IconMail Icon
The year is 2099, all the world's nations have fallen and been replaced by all powerful mega corporations. The region formerly known as New England is under the control of Amazing Corporation.

One of the ways they control crime is with a technology called Objectification. It turns any human into a full sized doll, mannequin, or another similar object for a certain amount of time. Amazing Corp then leases out the criminal as a product, or just their parts. How long this takes depends on how much monetary damage the criminal did to Amazing Corp. For instance, if someone steals 100 dollars from an Amazing Corp employee, then the criminal is kept as a product until Amazing Corp earns 100 dollars from leasing them, plus interest.

What is done to the products is completely up to the people who lease them. As long as they pay, Amazing Corp doesn't care. This results in many of the subjects being restored not in the way they originally were before. Luckily, they are aware for as long as they are objectified, so the changes aren't too jarring when they're restored. One thing that is consistent is that they are never restored as fully human. It's more accurate to say they are 'brought to life,' meaning they are still whatever product they were turned into but can move and talk now. This is due to the cheap technology put into the restoration process, as opposed to the objectification process.

Anyway, the store will follow someone who is...
