The tale of the Mao family is a long and storied one. From Jim-Jim Mao, the most accomplished apprentice of Wu Kong, to Mao Mao's father Shin Mao, a legendary hero, the Mao Family are both one of the most legendary group of fighters in the world...and a near-impossible standard for the young hero Mao-Mao to live up to.
Which is...part of the reason why he originally agreed to work for Uther. The Young Would-Be king might not have a ton of Military Might but his ownership of a sword that supposedly marked him as the divinely chosen ruler of the region is only half the reason that thousands of humans signed on with him as their new leader despite threats of invasion from all sides.
The other reason is, for an, as far as Mao can tell, illiterate son of possible a turnip farmer though he doesn't actually know too many specifics of Uther's past, the young human has a remarkable talent for convincing people to follow him. In particular, he spun the seemingly at first hopeless task of defending this land from invasion alone into a tale fit for legends. A mighty swordsman who, standing opposed on all sides, defended the weak from those who would harm them? A tale fit for legend indeed!
Mao's own reputation as a master swordsman, combined with the worldwide fame of the Mao Family as heroes and fighters in general, had been enough to temporarily hold back the incoming waves of invasion by the other Crown Seekers...his slaying of half-a-dozen Rat slaver clans in the area certainly not harming his chances... But surely and slowly the Crowns grow more braisen...
Our Focus Character is...
Beaumont
Beaumont, a human rescued from slavers by Mao-Mao shortly after his arrival in Uther's land who has declared himself Mao-Mao's apprentice...and proven remarkably difficult for the black cat to get to leave.
Adamai
Adamai is actually the "faithful companion" (Read-Pet but his new employer dislikes humans being refered to as such) of Badgerclops and has been for several years.
Alicia
A human orphan that latched onto Adorabat shortly after meeting her and is her unofficial younger sister.
