Chapter #2

In a kennel

    by: Leedeel Author IconMail Icon
Jake slowly opened his eyes, wondering what had just happened, to find himself trapped in what appeared to be a cage. Looking around the cage, he had little room to move. Even stranger, he was naked, although he could feel something around his neck. He tried to grab it, but somehow he couldn't. Looking at his hands, they seemed to have changed. He couldn't bend his thumb. He tried desperately to open the cage door, but his hands couldn't. Judging the bars, it almost seemed like a pet kennel. Putting the pieces together, he tried again to examine what was around his neck. From the texture, it had to be a dog collar.

This was all getting too weird for him. As he desperately tried to open the cage door again, he finally decided to call for help. Although he wasn't sure what was nearby. He looked outside his cage, and it seemed to be a kitchen. There was little sunlight coming through the window, leading Jake to believe that it was early morning. He couldn't see anyone or otherwise tell where he was.

"Hello?" He asked hesitantly, but to his surprise, it came out as a bark. He thought he was imagining it, so he decided to speak again. "Anyone?" but again it came out as a bark.

"This isn't good." Jake thought as he kept trying to speak, but it all came out as barks. It was as if he traded places with a dog. But he still had human skin, and he could feel the shaggy hair on top of his head. He was as confused as ever.

He would finally have answers when he heard footsteps. When he looked to see where they were coming from, he was horrified to see that they belonged to a fully clothed pit bull walking on two legs. It was wearing sweatpants and a tank top that revealed breasts, indicating that the dog was female. But why did the dog have a humanoid body, and why was it walking on two legs?

She walked up to Jake and he backed away as far as he could in fear. Unfortunately, he was cornered in his cage.

"Morning Jakey-poo," the pit bull said in English as it appeared to unlock the cage. Jake watched, still shaking with fear, wondering what the dog would do to him. After she opened the cage, she walked away. The door was now open as Jake watched the pit bull head for the refrigerator. She opened it and grabbed what looked like juice. Meanwhile, Jake didn't want to go near the dog, but he also didn't want to be trapped inside the cage forever, so he ran out into the open.

Looking around, the dog was occupied in the kitchen, and Jake noticed the sliding glass doors were his way out. He ran toward it but realized he was running on all fours. He tried to stand but couldn't. Ignoring that, he continued running to the door on all fours. He tried to open it but had no luck with his hands and lack of balance.

---

Jamie didn't even get a sip of her juice before she heard Jake pawing at the door. She sighed as she set the glass down and headed for the door to let him out. She knew she would be the one to take care of him, even if the rest of the family had originally insisted otherwise. Even though it's only been two weeks, she's already trained him quite well. He hasn't had many accidents, and she's even managed to teach him simple commands. He's much easier to handle than her family's previous human.

A few years ago, they adopted a 4-year-old African boy from an animal shelter. He was very aggressive and not very friendly. He always chewed everything in the house and was quite hard to control. The last straw was when he bit a neighbor's pup, and they had to put him to sleep. Her own pups were always begging her to get another one to replace him, but her husband wouldn't have any of it. Finally, he gave in, and they bought Jake from a pet store. She originally wanted a girl because they were generally less aggressive, but her pups were attached to Jake the moment they saw him.

So far, he's been very docile and easy to control. Of course, he's very energetic as a kiddy, but that's to be expected. Luckily her pups always gave him lots of attention and care. He seemed to like Amy the most, considering she gave him the most love and always took him for long walks. As for Morgan, she had to be careful whenever she left them alone together. More often than not, she'd find Morgan on the floor laughing with Jake on top of her, licking her face. Obviously, Morgan didn't know any better since she was a pup, but humans could play rough sometimes. Gary was the most difficult one, though. He'd always get Jake riled up so easily. Boys were so aggressive.

---

As Jake focused on the door handle, wondering what to do, he was startled when the pit bull appeared behind him.

"Calm down, Jake." Jamie soothed as she opened the door for him. Jake immediately ran outside without a second thought. Once outside, he realized he was fenced in as he heard the door close behind him. Fortunately, the pit bull didn't follow him outside.

It was a bit chilly outside, and the fact that he was naked didn't help. He looked around for a way out and realized that there must be a gate somewhere. He walked around to the side of the house and found it. He spent a while trying to find a way to open it, but to no avail, he couldn't in his new state. Meanwhile, birds were flying around and occasionally landing on the fence. It was as if they were mocking him. At least there were no people around.

As Jake's frustration grew, he became annoyed with the nearby bird that wouldn't stop chirping. He finally snapped and darted up the fence toward it. It flew off into the yard, and Jake gave chase.

"Come here, you little shit! I'll get you!" he yelled, but to anyone listening, it sounded like a normal human barking.

Jamie heard the commotion and looked out the window to see Jake chasing a bird. She sighed before heading for the door. Humans chased animals all the time. After all, they were originally bred from dogs for hunting. Most still had their primal instincts, and some were still used by dogs for hunting. But Jamie didn't want to find a dead bird in her yard or more importantly, upset her neighbors with Jake's barking.

"Jake! Come inside!" She called, causing Jake to stop. He turned to see the pit bull at the door. Meanwhile, the bird had escaped and flown out of the yard. Disappointed, he reluctantly went back inside. There was no way to escape, and he was beginning to feel cold. The dog stared at him as he entered the house. She closed the door behind him, and Jake was startled when her hand reached for him. She patted him on the head in a humiliating way.

Jamie wanted to scold Jake but changed her mind. He was just a kiddy, so he didn't know any better. She rubbed his head before she went upstairs to get ready for work.

To Jake's surprise, she walked down the hall. He needed answers and followed her. But there was a gate blocking the stairs. It was the kind of gate used to keep babies or dogs out of a room. It didn't seem very sturdy, and Jake figured he could probably knock it over.

While he thought about it, he heard a noise coming from the room behind him. He looked inside and saw a much smaller pit bull standing on two legs wearing young girls' clothing. She was focused on the television and seemed to be fiddling with the remote. Seeing another humanoid dog reassured Jake that he was being kept as a pet by a family of dogs. He figured that since this pit bull was much smaller, he would be able to attack her. He slowly crept up on her, but she finally noticed him.

"Hi Jake!" she yelled, running up to give him a hug. Jake was shocked when the dog wrapped her arms around his body. After the brief hug, she returned to her seat and continued channel surfing. Jake was stunned at what had just happened. The dog eventually laid down on the floor with her feet dangling in the air as she watched TV.

Jake thought back to his original plan and approached the pup, who was still focused on the television. Jake wanted to attack her but somehow couldn't go through with it. She seemed innocent, especially after she gave him a hug. And she probably didn't have anything to do with this.
