Chapter #3

Gary's perspective

    by: Leedeel Author IconMail Icon
Gary went to his room. He had a lot of new things he wanted to try, but he couldn't decide. Ultimately, he decided to go on the Internet to learn more about this world, figuring social media would get him up to date. While he didn't know much, he did retain part of Jake's old memory, which explained why he was aware of many things. He went to the computer, and although he had never used one before, it felt very familiar. He went onto Chrome and began visiting the sites in the favorites. Among them were Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, ESPN, Reddit, and his school's website.

He decided to visit Facebook foremost. First, he checked his profile which listed all his personal information, including his birth date. Next, he looked at his pictures. Of course, there were several pictures of him with his family and friends, but there were also some pictures of Jake. While Jake was mean to him in his old life, he wondered how he treated him in this life with the roles reversed.

He found a picture of Jake lying on his back on the grass with the caption "In the park" with a sun emoji. Another was of him and his sisters taking a family photo on the couch with Jake in Amy's lap. Finally, the last picture of Jake he had on his Facebook was one of the two of them when they were younger, captioned "tbt". Maybe he wasn't as mean to Jake as he was to him. He doubted that Jake was posting pictures of him on social media.

After looking at the pictures, he browsed through some of his friends' pages. Some of them he already knew, others he didn't. But he recognized the one he liked best, a golden retriever from the neighborhood. In his old life, he had often humped her. Of course, it's embarrassing to think about now. But when he saw her pictures of what she looked like now, Gary was amazed at how pretty she really was, especially with makeup. He scrolled through her page, curious to see if she had a human. She did indeed, and she had several pictures of her.

Gary decided to move on to the next site and visited Twitter. He scrolled through his tweets, which seemed like normal teenage boy tweets. However, he found a few tweets about Jake, such as:

'Love when my human chews my socks' followed by an angry emoji.
'Woke up to my human barking at 5 am. Great start to my day.'
'Took my human for a walk and this lady yelled at me when he went pee on her front lawn. Lol bitch next time I'm just gonna let him take a shit all over it.'

Afterward, he took time to browse his feed and saw a few tweets regarding humans:

'Came home to find my human had chewed my uggs ' followed by several crying emojis.
'Why must my human always hump my leg?????'
'Nothing like taking your kiddy out only for him to pee within 10 seconds of returning inside the house' followed by an upside-down face emoji.

Looking at the tweets, he couldn't understand why dogs loved humans so much. They seemed like a nuisance. But as he read on, everyone seemed to adore them. For example, someone tweeted "I want a kiddy" with three heart emoticons, while another retweeted an adorable picture of a human baby. Gary still had to think it all through.

You have the following choices:
