As interesting as this place was, there was still much to explore and you'd rather get a more full picture before go around fiddling with any statues.
You reluctantly left behind the room with the three statues and proceeded deeper into the temple grounds.
From the statue plaza you walked along a thoroughfare lined with beautiful but worn and ivy covered pillars.
The ancient city upon which the temple was built had almost been reclaimed by nature, with gnarled trees patches of brightly colored mushrooms, and tall oddly shaped flowers with thick stalks the only living things you'd seen so far.
South from the statues down a flight of stairs there was a large pool of water that released subtle clouds of steam into the morning air.
The pool was lined on four sides with stone benches that didn't all that comfortable, and there were steps leading down into the water.
Despite the dilapidated state of the temple, yhe water looked pristine and inviting enough that you were tempted to descend down the steps and dip your toes in.
Although for the briefest moment you thought you saw a dark shape flit underneath the water, which gave you pause.
It could've just been a trick of light, but if there was a creature lurking in the watery depths you were loath to tango with it.
On the other hand you could leave the pool behind and explore more of what the temple had to offer.
