You decide that the best course of action is to get the attention of the kids playing volleyball. They should be old and mature enough to help you, and they're a lot closer to you than any adult.
There are 8 kids ranging from 9 to 11 years of age, four boys and four girls. They're arranged into two teams of two boys and two girls, each on one side of a makeshift volleyball net (which is a single wire hanged between two poles).
You're not fully familiar with the rules of volleyball, but you believe no one is going to step directly under the net, so you decide to get someone's attention from there.
For the next few minutes, nothing happens. No one seems to take notice of you under the net. You watch as one team throws the ball just one tiny bit over the net, and the closest member of the other team fails to catch it before it hits the ground.
"Nathan!" One of the girls on his team yells disapprovingly.
"What? That was an impossible catch!" Nathan lies. If one of the other players were in his position, they would've literally jumped forward to catch the ball, with little thought about how painful the landing would be. Nathan simply wasn't so daring.
"What, you chicken?" You and Nathan turn around towards the voice. One of the girls on the other team is laughing to herself, and her team soon follows. Nathan smiles, he knows it's all just playful banter. But he is totally without a comeback, so he resorts to Plan B and playfully kicks some sand in the girl's general direction.
Nathan's foot connects with you, sending you flying towards the other team. You land right in the middle of their side of the field.
Before you can even stand, that team tries to repeat their last point by throwing the ball towards Nathan. Unfortunately for them, the ball was set to fall right on top of him, so he intercepts it with no problem. Now the ball is set to fall near you. You watch as the four players prepare to intercept it, but three of them wield so that the fourth one can make a jump for it.
The child jumps, failing to catch the ball, and is sent belly sliding towards you.
