Chapter #7

A Jealous Mind makes you a Stupid Stowaway

    by: Hectic Author IconMail Icon
The next week had gone by as painlessly as it could have--well relatively speaking from someone with your track record of bad luck. But after three full days of feeling stretched to your absolute limit to cover your girlfriend’s goddess-like frame, as well as receiving free butt-sweat facials courtesy of the way you were shaped, you weren’t one to complain. The day that Viola returned Mari’s correctly sized swimsuit was a bit bittersweet, the sweet part being that you would no longer be worn, but the bitter part being the confirmation of your suspicion that your girlfriend had completely forgotten about the fact that you were acting as her interim swimsuit in the meantime. Even worse was that when Mari came back to the locker room at the end of her shift that day, she simply left your dyed body hanging in her locker for the evening. Knowing that trusting Mari’s memory to once again recall you again had about the same odds as winning the lottery spurred you into reforming as quickly as you possibly could before the following morning.

The next day, when Mari opened her locker up once again, you had, at the very least, been successful at shrinking yourself back towards your original size, although you were still swimsuit shaped. At first, when Mari looked at you she laughed and held the shrunken swimsuit up with one hand, calling out “Real funny, guys. Who put the child-sized swimsuit in my locker?”

Viola looked over from a little ways down and responded, “uhh Fuertes, that’s still your boyfriend, isn’t it?”

Mari’s eyes went wide with realization once again, and after a wave of apologies, then another excruciatingly boring shift spent in her dark, damp, locker, Mari finally took you home to her place.

Needless to say, you weren’t feeling especially cherished after being worn as your girlfriend’s swimsuit and then forgotten about twice in the span of 24 hours. So that evening when Mari turned your tiny, still swimsuit-shaped body inside out and placed you on the couch next to her to watch a movie, you appreciated it. Later that night, Mari nervously told you that she would prefer to keep your bright red swimsuit body a secret from her mother, knowing that the strict woman would ultimately judge you for letting yourself fall into such a situation. You agreed, knowing that Rio’s mixing up of your terrible luck as personal ineptitude was one of the biggest obstacles in your relationship with Mari.

With that in mind, the next six days passed by arduously for you as you worked tirelessly to break free from your swimsuit form. After nearly three days you found yourself back to your one inch, human form once again, however your skin was still a strong pink, having faded slightly down from the bright red that you were dyed. Finally able to stretch your legs, you wanted to return to at least somewhat normalcy, but Mari begged to keep you hidden in her room for just a few more days until your skin color returned to normal, primarily so she wouldn’t have to go through the embarrassment of explaining what she used you for. You agreed, somewhat reluctantly, and Mari set you up with a makeshift bed made out of her sock inside one of her less-used dresser drawers with a granola bar and tiny cup of water. Of course, as fate seemed to screw you over again and again, your presence seemed to slip Mari’s mind once more. You spent the next four days in excruciating boredom and darkness, luckily with enough food and water to keep you comfortable (you didn’t necessarily need food and water to survive, but when you weren’t crushed your body still felt the pangs of these needs). And with each passing hour in solitude, your annoyance with your forgetful girlfriend grew. When she finally opened this drawer again, you were going to give her a serious talking to about how you’ve been treated this past week and a half.

That brought you to today, or at least what you assumed was the daytime, since the darkness of your drawer-prison made it hard to tell the time of day. You awoke from your slumber to hear Mari’s voice on the phone.

“Oh, you guys are five minutes away! I’m almost done packing, don’t worry... I’m so excited too! I know it’s technically team-building for the group but it’ll be a blast anyways… oh, an extra pair of hiking shorts? Sure I think I have some tucked away here, I’ll toss them in my bag and see you in a few minutes! Cya!” Mari hung up the phone excitedly and began opening each of her dresser drawers. Prepping yourself, you knew your moment was about to come, and certainly enough, it did. Mari pulled open the drawer that you had spent the past four days in, and audibly gasped.

“Oh my god… Matt! Baby, I’m so so sorry I forgot that I hid you in here!” Mari swiftly grabbed you in her hand gently and placed you on top of her dresser. You saw her duffel bag was packed and ready down on the ground beneath you

“Mari. ehem” you coughed to clear your throat since it was the first time you had spoken in over a week, “Mari we need to have a serious talk about your forgetfulness these past few weeks.” You stated, controlling your annoyance as best as you could, while Mari was simultaneously reaching down to grab a spare pair of hiking shorts from the same drawer you had just been occupying. As she unzipped her bag and stuffed the shorts in, she stood up without zipping it back up.

You continued talking while she stood up. “Getting used as your swimsuit was bad enough, even though I was willing to sacrifice like that for you. But what hurts more than that…” *DING* “... is the fact that you forgot that I even made that sacrifice for you…” *DING* “Plus I heard the way you responded when Viola commented on Selena’s crush on you! And now you’re going on a trip with her?” *DING*

Mari’s phone sounded off with a series of text chimes, undercutting the impact of your impassioned speech as you saw your girlfriend’s eyes dart from you to her phone repeatedly. Finally, after the third text, Mari simply grabbed her phone next to you and opened it to read the texts that she had been receiving. “Uhhhhh, sorry about all that, Matt… I totally… get what you’re saying in regards to……” Mari’s response trailed off before even finishing as she began typing a response to the text on her phone, smiling and holding back a laugh as she did so. You were flabbergasted and furious that Mari clearly wasn’t even listening to you!

“Okay, babe, sorry” she said as she slid her phone into her pocket, “that was Selena texting me that the girls are here to pick me up! I promise we can talk about whatever you were just saying as much as you want once I get back from the girls’ trip! I’m gonna run to use the bathroom real quick and then I gotta go though! Don’t want to keep them waiting! Love ya!” Mari leaned down and kissed you rather thoughtlessly, crushing you slightly into the dresser beneath you before she bounded off towards the bathroom.

Your mind was absolutely racing with emotions at that moment, primarily rage at Mari and jealousy towards Selena who Mari was clearly paying more attention to at that moment. While your girlfriend was in the bathroom, your mind traveled to the darkest places, as thoughts of Mari and Selena spending dedicated time together flooded your brain. You needed to stop this any way you could, and if Mari wouldn’t listen to your words… well… you looked over the edge towards her still-unzipped duffel bag and without a second thought you dove right in.

Landing in a pile of clothes you found the fall to be surprisingly soft. And mere moments later you heard Mari stomp back into the room and zip up her bag, casting you into darkness before walking right out her front door. With a quick goodbye to her mom, Mari walked out into the light to the sight of Viola, Hanna and Selena sitting in her driveway. Hanna reached over and honked the horn in front of Viola, who was in the driver’s seat, before Viola promptly swatted her hand away for acting so childish. Instantly, any qualms that Mari had felt about the previous conversation with you had melted away into nothingness as she quickly opened the trunk and tossed her bag into the back. She hopped into the backseat to see Selena on the other side, who shot her a million dollar smile and tilted a bag of chips in Mari’s direction. Mari quickly sat down and closed the door behind her, as Viola backed up out of the driveway and began the drive.

“I ask again, Viola” Selena said, “is there any particular reason why the 5’11” girl and the 6’1” girl have to sit in this cramped back seat while you shorties get to drive and sit up front?” Selena shot Mari a look of commiseration, prompting a short giggle from her before Viola responded.

“First of all, my car, my rules. And second of all, even though you two might look like Greek Goddesses doesn’t mean that I’ll treat you two like them, now shut up and get comfortable.”

Hanna laughed out loud as Selena furrowed her brow and lifted her sockless foot up off the ground, sticking it between the two front seats until it touched Viola’s hand on the shifter. Immediately Viola recoiled and tossed her muscular leg into the backseat, where it landed squarely on Mari’s bare thigh. Both Mari and Selena blushed, making awkward eye contact for a second too-long, before Mari pushed Selena’s foot off of her as well.

“Keep those dogs to yourself!” Mari jokingly said as Selena finally put her feet back down.

“Oh come on, these puppies never hurt anyone!” Selena said in mock defense of her own tremendously large feet.

“Umm, I think a few dozen tiny guys at the Oasis would disagree with that statement.” Hanna quipped back from the front seat.

“Oh. Yeah you’re right.” Selena said before all four girls erupted into a round of laughter.
