"Oh, we can have so much fun with this." She giggled as she started to bite her lip and with a lowered voice she whispered. "I want to try something, do you trust me?" She asked but was over joyed when he nodded his head. "I'm going to copy my..." She stopped for a moment and Josh watched as a smile crept upon her face causing the hair on his arms to stand on end. "Actually, how about we head over to my house and say hi to Mom and Kira. They've been asking for you to come over since the semester started, but we've been so busy with school and studying that we haven't had time to go by."
Thanking back to the last time that he'd stopped by her house and couldn't believe that its been since the past summer. "Has it really been that long?" He asked Jenn, who just nodded her head as she started to gather her things. "You really want to head over there, huh?" He asked chuckling. Following her example, Josh grabbed his unwanted Pumpkin Spice drink and started to make his way over to to the door. He had no intention of drinking it, but perhaps Jenn would like it a little later on.
The entire car ride over to Jenn's house took a little less than 20 minutes to reach her house and Jenn never looked up from her book once. There were several times that he tried to start a conversation with her, but she just nodded her head or said simple phrases like. "Uh-huh." and "Sure, if you want to do that." But no matter what he tried to say or do, she wouldn't bring her attention away from the book. Pulling up on the side of the road in front of her house, Josh put the car into park and turned off the car. "Oh we're already here?" Jenn remarked looking up from her new book. "Why didn't you say anything."
Letting out a tired sigh, he started to make his way up the flagstone pathway that leads towards the front door. Before he could even get to the door, it seemingly opened by itself and Kira came out immediately latching onto him. "Joshie! Why haven't you come online?" She asked trying to get answers out of her gaming friend. The past few years have been really good to Kira. She was now taller than her big sister and has been top of her class with the programming skills. There was even talk about her taking some college level classes to keep her more engaged with school, which Jenn prided herself with since she was the one who taught her how to study and take notes.
Lightly putting his hand on her head, Josh greeted her like he always did. "You know how your sister is when it comes to books and somebody's grades." Kira just rolled her eyes and nodded her head, knowing that's what her sister was like. "We're going to go up to her room for a bit, but I might have some time tonight and we can team up for a couple matches. Does that sound good to you?" Kira eagerly nodded her head and made her way into the kitchen. Jenn soon followed him through the door and latched onto his arm. He tended to give her grief about leaching on him like she was just doing, but deep inside he loved it.
"Are you ready for what I have in store for you?" She whispered to him while giggling like a little school girl. Not waiting for an answer, Jenn eagerly guided him over to her room so that they can get started.
He was about to close the door when he heard Lynn Marshal's voice call out. "Don't you shut that door." Smiling, Josh left it wide open so that they couldn't do anything behind closed doors.
Making his way over to Jenn's bed where she was already sitting with her legs crossed with the book across her lap. Still in her long sleeve shirt and light purple yoga pants, she was waiting for him to come sit across from her. She gently patted the space across from her and Josh made his way over to her. The books on the dustless shelves ranged from the teen books ranging from Twilight to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children to A Walk to Remember were lined up. Several medals from a couple High School competitions were carefully hung on hooks next to her desk that was in immaculate condition, showing that it was used daily. The posters on the walls ranged from a couple movies that she got while working part time at the local movie theater to some of the typical bands lined the walls.
"Are you sure you know what you're doing?" Josh asked as he sat down across from her. The pages of the book still looked foreign to him and the thought of touching it seemed to creep him out and goose bumps started to raise on his arms.
Smiling Jenn looked up and started to tell him something but Kira was walking past interrupting her. "Josh and Jenny, dinner is about to be started and Mom wanted to know if the two of you will be staying today?" Thinking about it for a moment, he nodded his head and started to send his mom a text letting her know not to expect him home until later. "Alrighty." She said continuing her way down stairs.
"Are you ready?" Jenn wondered as she put the book down off of her lap onto the lilac colored bed spread that lay on her bed. Not waiting for an answer, she let out a sigh to clear her mind and simply stated. "Verto Vitas!". As she finished saying the phrase, the world around Josh seemed to distort causing him to close his eyes. When he opened them, he soon found that he was not where he was sitting originally, but instead was now in the life of ___________.
