It hit you all at once that it was someone's birthday today.
To be completely fair, you couldn't take any credit for the bolt of inspiration. It was actually seeing a packet of uninflated balloons and a box of cake mix sitting on the counter in the corner of the kitchen that tipped you off and jogged your memory. Sadly, said memory jogging did not include actually managing to also recall who specifically was the one with the birthday today.
Birthdays had always been a bit hit or miss for you in the past. The celebratory atmosphere was always super fun, and you would never so no to a good party conceptually speaking. However, with the shadow of Jenna looming over you like an unavoidable nightmare, almost no birthday ever went well for you, regardless of who specifically was the special someone. You could still vividly recall one of Ashley's birthdays spent flossing the girl's gargantuan pale ass cheeks as a 'gifted' thong, one of your mom's birthdays wasted bubbling inside her gut after Jenna slipped you into her cake, and then one of your own birthdays ruined by Jenna molding you into the floor mat by the front door, where you spent hours being ground upon by all your guests' feet.
But that was the past, and today would hopefully be a much calmer and more enjoyable day...as soon as you remembered whose birthday it was.
