Just across the hill the red tents, golden flags and lion covered banners appeared. Tyrion had finally reached the Lannister host. He had been making his way back from his wrongful imprisonment by Lady Stark and show trial in the Eyrie he had to endure. Together with his new-found companion, Bronn, and kind help from the hill tribes he had found his way back to proper civilization, wine... and his father. Knowing his father as he did he didn’t expect a warm welcome, if one at all.
Being a dwarf men always looked down upon him, of course they wouldn't say so he was still a high noble after all. So too did the men guarding the encampment. However being a Lannister he was among the most recognisable in de Seven Kingdoms. Once he approached the camp, even with questionable company behind him, the guards greeted him and escorted him to the officer's tent.
Tyrion approached the tent, sighing at the prospect of seeing his lord-father.
'Father' Tyrion said while entering.
Before Tyrion could say anything else his father already seized the conversation 'I see the rumours of your demise were unfounded.'
'Sorry to disappoint you, father.’ Tyrion said sarcastically while averting his eyes from his father.
Tywin scoffed looking over the company which his son had brought in. With a simple gesture of the hand he made sure they were removed from his tent and payed off, after all, a Lannister always pays his debts
'Bronn, you can wait by my tent.' Tyrion instructed his new sell sword before facing his father.
Tyrion climbed up the high cairs which were standing across from his fathers table. 'Kind of you to start a war for me.' Tyrion said as he sat down reaching out to grab some wine
'You left us no choice' Tywin responded snatching the wine away before his son could get to it 'the honour of the house was at stake.'
Tyrion looked up to meet his father’s eyes.
'Jamie might be able to hold up some of that honour, fighting and, winning battles in the Riverlands. But you and your sister have been nothing but disappointments.’ He paused for a second.
'But alas, capture will be seen as a weakness and an insult to the house but it was not caused by you.' Tywin said much to the surprise of Tyrion. It almost sounded as if he didn't blame his misfigured son for once.
'Things have changed rapidly and it is war, as you might have noted. We need everyone in this family to contribute. The whole kingdom is on fire, Riverlands, Stormlands, Crownlands all have erupted into chaos. Robert is dead. His hand Edward Stark too, you have your sister to thank for that.' He said begrudgingly.
Rumours had been floating about the kingsroad however not much had reached Tyrion as the hill tribes had scared of any merchants, sell words or whores, the last one much to the disappointment of Tyrion.
'Well, well, my sweet sister managed to slay the Northern wolf.'
'Joffrey did. It just means his mother can’t control the boy-king and we have a whole host of angry wolves migrating south with sharpened teeth.'
'Seems like my sister is giving you trouble deciding on who is your least favorite offspring for once.' Tyrion joked.
The look in Tywins eyes said enough, he did not enjoy Tyrions little jokes. His children were all disappointments in his eyes.
'I couldn't care less for the lot of you but you are still Lannisters. And thus you will all do your part to protect the family from this disaster.'
'Of course lord father, when you need someone to drink some wine I will be the first to offer up my services.'
'You can go sip your wine then in the capital' Tywin scoffed.
'The capital?' Tyrion asked
'I'm fighting a war, your brother is besieging Riverrun. I need someone to serve our needs in the capital. Your sister is running it a muck and Joffrey is as impatient as Robert was a drunk. For all the dissapointment you are, you might at least make sure the capital is not lost before our armies can even get there.'
'I will ride first thing in the morning' Tyrion responded.
'No' his father said sharply. ‘Except if you want to become a captive a second time that is. The Blackfish has blocked off all roads leading through the Riverlands and I need you there sooner. Riding there, even in the best conditions, might take weeks.'
'So you suggest I will fly there? Maybe some dragon bones that can give me a ride, I dont weigh much' Tyrion muttered sarcastically.
'You leave that to me' Tywin said ‘Go rest Tyrion, I need you sharp in Kingslanding. Ill make the preparations and you will be there before the morrow.’
'Oh and Tyrion' he said as he turned around 'No wine.'
Tyrion didn't understand his father or his wishes. But he couldn't care less, nor for his last instruction. He was finally off the road, and could finally get a whore in his bed to please him and massage his tired legs.
Bronn had already taken care of his patrons needs and secured a pretty whore much to the delight of Tyrion, a girl named Shay.
'Seems like I wont be staying here long' Tyrion said entering the tent assigned to him
'Your father wanted to get rid of you so soon? So where are we off too then’ Bronn inquired.
'My lord-father wants me in the capital. But I'm not sure how he is proposing to get me there. Chances are bigger that I start growing two sizes than that I will be in Kingslanding before the sun rises. Not that it matters, for now I just want to enjoy my wine and this lovely girl you have arranged for me' Tyrion said while kissing Shay's hand.
