This choice: No limit, and you can keep me safe, and will know where I am, how to find me? • Go Back...Chapter #5No limit and you can keep me safe? by: DougTF   Dan is intrigued, and while this scares him a little, her assurances he's safe, that she can protect him, restore him.."I'm ok if you want to experiment...go ahead and shrink me some more Genie" bracing himself, looking around the tan patch he stands on, her hand. For her part, she gasps "Master, I have never had a master who was so open to allow me to test my powers, thank you...oh, and next time, you will need to think to me instead of speak" and you see her other hand make a gesture, like a huge mountain above you.
The field you are on grows at a dizzying rate, and then all you can see is tan, with ridges that are essentially smooth, but you are standing on the edge of one. Looking up to her face again, you are confused, you can't see her anymore. "Genie where did you go?" But she doesn't answer which scares you a little. Looking at the tan horizon that is in every direction, you realize you shrank a lot more...and she might not be able to see you...and recall what she last said. Concentrating, you try to think "Genie can you hear my thoughts like this?"
A giggle in your mind, and her voice appearing inside your mind as well "Yes master, this is how we need to communicate now...I can sorta see you,but just as a speck.. you're on my fingertip and I paused before shrinking you more. I also wanted to let you know, I went ahead and made you invulnerable to harm...since you are getting too small to see, in case you fall off my fingetip or I imagine next time, you might fall or something." Dan pauses "Next time?" but then another lurch, and you do fall, as the ridge you are on grows into a canyon and you are falling, with a shout. You land but quite softly. The 'land' you hit is firm, but somehow you didn't hurt when you fell, even as it is much darker, shadows from the wall of this huge narrow canyon you now stand in. Looking up, the 'walls' of this canyon are so tall above you, still tan with.a hint of red under the surface. Where are you? "Genie, how small did you make me, where am I?" Again, you don't hear her, but rather in your mind "Still on my fingertip master, though I am not sure how small you are, I don't know words to describe that, but I can not see you anymore, or feel you. You're too small and light" Looking around, you realize that's why you landed so lightly, you don't weigh enough so that when you fell it was like dust blowing in the wind. But what sort of canyon is on her fingertip?
With a sickening lurch, you realize you are standing in a whirl of her fingerprint, the small ridges on one's hand, but if that ridge is a canyon to you..."I'm I'm in your fingerprint, but its a huge canyon to me!" You realize you're microscopic, in a world human's can't see,and genie laughs in your mind "Microscopic, ohh, yes that word describes you...I think if I made you any smaller, you might fall between my cells and enter my body. Let me make some changes before you have me try that" You wonder what she means, but then gasps as she talks of shrinking you even more, the thought horrifies you, but also stuns you, making you hyperventilate a bit, but suddenly you stop.
It allows you to avoid panic when you stop hyperventilating, but dunno how Genie did that. Another realization...you're not hyperventilating, because you are not breathing...at all. You do panic, or your mind tries to, but your heart doesn't race...and you feel for your pulse at your wrist. Nothing! "Genie, I can't breathe, can't feel my pulse, I think I'm dying!"
Somehow, her giggle in your mind feels a little larger. "You are fine master, I just changed your physiology, so you can survive in any environment... you no longer breathe or have the sort of functions you are used to...I'm going to change your vision next, since you won't be able to see in the normal sense next time" Vision, but then things go blurry and clear, but are different. You wonder what she meant but before you can ask, she speaks in your mind "Ok, enjoy this trip master, probably going to be disorienting" As if this whole thing hadn't been...poof.
You are being carried along in a huge current, very confused. You can't see, and blink, your eyes focusing and you realize your sense is different somehow. There are huge reddish donuts tumbling all around you, carried the same current as you, and when one hits you, you manage to stick to its surface, and can walk along it as it moves. You get a sensation of moving at great speed, but it doesn't make sense. But then you realize "Genie...I'm inside you, in your blood, dear God...I...I'm standing on a blood cell!" Indeed, the red ring shape you walk on is a single blood cell. Genie's voice again, in your mind, sounding distant, but imposing. "I know, you are moving up my arm....obviously I can't see you but my bond allows me to sense you...oh brace yourself" For what you wonder, but then the blood cell you are on tumbles wildly, speeding up and then you manage to grip its surface, as the speed and pressure become huge. The sense of a wall closing and opening before you, then shooting through.... tumbling. It's like a roller coaster and you hoot in delight in spite of yourself, sighing as the motion slows a bit. You're not sure what happened at first, but before you can think to her, the blood cell you are on changes subtly, going from darker red to a bit brighter, and you realize "Genie I'm in your lungs, I just went through your heart!" She nods "I knew you were in my chest, but unsure where....thought you would get stirred in my bloodstream though, are you ok, should I remove and restore you master?" You think about it but laugh "It was an amazing ride...this is as small as I could be right?" She laughs not hardly...shall I continue?" he look around the red blood cell you are on, bewildered, but also now intensely curious. "Smaller?" but there is a lurch again...
You are standing on a nearly perfect sphere walking on its surface, but if you were moving fast in the bloodstream, this must be incredible....everything is a blur. You realize you can't see, because you are too small to receive light waves, even if you were not inside her body. But you must be moving incredibly fast, you can't make sense of it. "Genie, I'm lost, I don't understand where I am" Her voice in your mind is otherworldly "I think if I made you any smaller than this you would vanish into my magic and I would just have to reform you. I know you exist, but can't sense where, which scared me, but connecting you I understand it from your mind. I can't tell where you are due to the nature of your size. The Heisenberg principle, I can know your condition but not location...do you know what that means?" The Heisenberg principle, but that describes the motion of...."AHHH! I'm standing on an electron! I'm subatomic!" Gasping, you realize this is impossible, but of course, it's not, here you are, where no human could ever be, could ever even see or sense. You sit down and consider:   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
