Dr Butcher was a scientist with an unfortunate yet suitable last name. They had a perfect understanding of the human body as well as several animal species and knew what made them tick. Not only that but he was a master chemist and created a formula that could preserve the human body indefinitely.
Had Dr Butcher been allowed to continue his research he could've saved countless lives. Unfortunately the methods he used to get to where he was saw his licenses being revoked. He also had a tendency to do what he wanted because he could and he had a twisted view on reality.
Up until five years ago Dr Butcher had been a professor at a local university when he was approached by a struggling student who asked for extra credit. That extra credit saw her end up with her head removed from her body and Dr Butcher with a life sentence.
