The previous tenants of Matthew's new house disappeared without a trace. They left all their belongings, with all the personal stuff being collected by family. Matthew and his friends rented out the house as it was pre-furnished and the rent was low as no one wanted it.
It took a bit of work sorting out the house the way the four roommates wanted it. Matthew had taken the master bedroom with the en-suite, while his roommates had taken the other 3 rooms that were being used as home offices and another bedroom.
One part of the house that hadn't been cleared out yet was the basement. It was one of Matthew's rooommates that decided to start working on it, to clear it out for another hangout. That's where he found something strange, something that would give them a clue to what happened to the house's previous occupants.
They weren't alone in the house, it was home to a demon who loved altering mortals to their satisfaction
