This choice: Male, no significant other • Go Back...Chapter #3Male, no significant other by: DougTF   You're a guy working at TransformCorp, a company that used to do military tech and AI, but has now switched to private industry after a breakthrough in using particle physics to reorganize matter. Your department is PR, not R&D so you hardly understand the how of it, but basically the company works to transform stuff into other stuff. It sounds like modern day alchemy to you, and you sometimes struggle to write engaging blogs or social media posts, which is why it is a surprise when you are asked to the top floor offices.
Heading into the main office of the consumer R&D section, you are a little caught off guard by a weird suit laid out on a table, along with tons of computer monitors. But what really throws you is along with the all the lab tech type folks, the CEO is there, and she smiles as you walk in. This is all a bit unreal, as the CEO welcomes you by name, and then goes into a spiel, ending with the fact they want you to test their newest invention, and run a blog and social media account linked to the project. You blink at that, figuring you were closer to being let go than promoted, but then they drop the hammer: they want you to wear and use their newest invention, the ShiftiSuit, which allows the wearer to be transformed into.... well, anything.
You are hesitant, but they job comes with a large bonus, so you sign on eagerly, and then do a double take, when they tell you to strip and put on the suit. Going into a changing room, taking off all your clothes, you pull the suit on. It feels weird, stretchy, tight, and has a definite metallic feel overlaid the spandex kinda vibe the fabric gives off. You walk back out, feeling really self conscious in the skin tight suit that comes right up to your neck, boots and gloves built in. Techs affix a helmet and then you are all the way encased. They power it up, and you see readouts, along with an interface. It says offline user active and when you ask what that means, they say it's that the tech staff has control over the suit, for initial tests. Blinking, you realize that means the white suited tech has control over what you turn into, and as you turn, you see them tapping the controls, the suit humming to life and with a warm tingling sensation, you glow and then fade as you turn into:  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
