The hike to Peach's castle was actually quite pleasant and seemed to go by in a snap. The air was neither too hot nor too cold. The flowers smelled sweet as a gentle breeze blew through them. The colors around you were all pleasantly vibrant. The Toads you encountered were also very pleasant, treating you like an old friend and not even questioning your presence at all.
The first sign of hostility was the Toad guards with their halberds at the castle doors. And even then, you didn't find them very intimidating.
"Halt! Who goes there?"
You explained to them who you were and why you thought Peach might be the only one who could help you.
What you didn't realize was that Peach saw you from a window. And she definitely liked what she saw.
When she saw you turning around and starting to walk away in defeat, she ran down her stairs as fast as she could, only barely having resisted the temptation to call out to you from the window.
She was thoroughly out of breath by the time she threw the doors open.
"You there!" she said, trying to smile and look casual in between bouts of folding over and panting to regain her breath. "Welcome to my castle. What can I do for you?"
Her voice was a little low but soft and silky and feminine.
"It's just that I..."
"You don't have to share all of your business in front of the entire Mushroom Kingdom," Peach said. "Please, come inside."
The Toad guards seemed a little confused but shrugged it off.
Peach led you inside to her throne room, but instead of going directly to her throne, she gestured for you to take a seat at a small wooden table with her.
Her enormous blue eyes, between her cute tiny nose and blonde heart-shaped bangs, were completely focused on you as you tried to find a delicate way to explain that she was a character in a video game you were playing, you didn't belong here, and you wondered if she had any idea how you could get home.
"I do have an idea," she said. Then you felt the sole of her foot rubbing deliberately against your shin. "How about you just don't go home at all? You can just stay here in this castle with me."
You gulped as she played with her long golden tresses and batted her long dark eyelashes at you flirtatiously.
"Umm, that's really generous of you, Princess," you said. "But I really think I should be getting home."
Peach's foot slid further up your leg.
"Why?" she said. "Don't you like my kingdom?"
"No!" you said. "It's not that. It's just that..."
Peach rested her smooth chin in her white gloved hands, elbows planted on the table, still staring straight into your soul, still moving her sole further up your leg.
"Don't you like me?" Her voice became even lower and huskier as she leaned in further, her plump pink lips getting closer to your face. "I've got really nice cake I could give you."
