After Goku had finished off Kid Buu and brought peace to the Universe again, his wife decided to put her foot down. The fortune from her father the Ox-King was almost gone and since Goku had died to make sure her kids had not gone hungry and had clothes to wear she had been forced to beg Bulma and even #18 for financial help.
Now that Goku was back she was going to make him get a job whether he wanted to or not. "I am tired of having to beg our friends for the money you are going to start working," Chi-Chi said the night after the party at Capsule Corp for the death of Kid Buu, and everyone is brought back to life again.
"I have a job," Goku protested, "I train so I can fight people and save the planet."
"You are going to get a job that actually pays money. You know so we don't starve or lose our power," Chi-Chi growled at him. Unknown to her Goku's Saiyan heritage picked up on her anger at him and while she had not said anything that sounded like an order to him his body reacted. "If you can't think of a job I will find one for you," Chi-Chi added as she smacked Goku on the back of his head to hopefully get her point across. Normally the blow would not have done anything to Goku but with his heritage of being a Male Saiyan making him submissive to all females no matter the species, the blow knocked him face-first into the table and actually did some damage to him.
Chi-Chi thinking he was teasing her let out a soft growl and pulled him by a hank of his hair off the table expecting to see him giving her a goofy look and trying to distract her from telling him to get a job. What she had not expected was to see him wince in pain from the grip she had on his hair, or that his lip appeared to be bleeding. Chi-Chi
