Lucas was relexing for the day until his alarm went off, reminding him to visit Barry. He didn't know why Barry wanted to see him so late but he told his mother and went off.
As he approached Barry's house, the door flung open and Barry came flying out, sending them both to the ground.
Barry groaned as he got up. "Oh, hey, Lucas! It's about time you got here! Come on, I'm headed to the lake! If you're late, I'm fining you $1 million!" And like that, he was off.
Lucas thought better than to question him at this point and just went after him.
As he entered Route 201, he saw Barry running towards the lake. He just took his time as he had no intention of losing his breath.
By the time he got there, Barry had tackled him again. "Come on, Lucas! You're late! I should fine you but I'm too exited!" He pulled Lucas to his feet.
"Thanks." Lucas said. "So what are we doing here?"
"Well you remember the news report earlier about the red Gyarados? Well, I was thinking, what if our lake had one? So I thought we should check it out."
"And why couldn't we check earlier? When the sun was still up?"
"Come on! Everyone knows Gyarados is nocturnal!"
Lucas knew that wasn't true but when Barry gets an idea, it's hard to convince him otherwise.
"Please excuse us." Asked Prof. Rowan.
Lucas and Barry stepped back to let Rowan and his assistant through.
"Thank you." She said as they left.
Barry then went running towards the lake and Lucas followed.
As Lucas made his way through the grass, he stepped on a pokéflute which, after picking it up, drew his attention to a briefcase.
Barry came over to see what he was looking at when two Starly attacked them. In a panic, they opened the briefcase and grabbed a pokeball.
