Blue was woken up by his alarm. He knew today he was going to get his first pokémon. His choice would be obvious, he would get the pokémon that had a natural advantage against Red's.
He went downstairs to see his grandfather leaving, most likely to prepare the starters. Blue had a quick breakfast and went to the lap when something shiny caught his eye. He noticed it came from the tall grass and, taking a look, noticed a pokéflute. He knew how valuable they could be, so he took it.
After making his way to the Lab, he saw Green in the waiting area. That annoyed him a little but he sat down without a word.
After a while, his grandfather came out and noticed the two. "Where's Red?" After not getting an answer, he left to find him, annoying Blue further.
It took 20 minutes for him to return. "Finally!" He exclaimed.
They all followed Oak deeper in where there were three pokemon waiting.
"I'm sure you've had long enough to think about which one you want. Green, since you were here first, why don't you pick?"
Blue was annoyed at that as she might pick the one strong against Red's.
"Red can go first, I don't mind." Green stated with a smile.
Blue looked at her with shock and she just smiled at him. He then focused on which pokémon Red would pick.
