Brady grows at the Doctor

by: rpdr fan Author IconMail Icon

The next morning dawned with a tense atmosphere in the Thompson household. Brady’s family gathered around the breakfast table, their expressions a mix of concern and determination. Brady himself felt like a ticking time bomb, uncertain of when or how his next growth spurt might occur.

"Brady, we’re going to take you to the doctor today," Mr. Thompson said firmly, breaking the heavy silence that had settled over them.

Brady nodded slowly, his heart sinking with the weight of their collective worry. "Yeah, I think that’s a good idea."

With a sense of urgency, they finished breakfast and piled into the car—Brady squished into the backseat with Jake, his long legs awkwardly positioned to fit. The drive to the doctor’s office was filled with uneasy silence, each of them lost in their own thoughts and fears.

Arriving at the clinic, Brady was ushered into an examination room where he sat on the edge of the examination table, his legs dangling over the side. The doctor, a middle-aged man with a kind face, entered the room and greeted them warmly.

"Hello, Brady. I’m Dr. Stevens. Your family tells me you’ve been experiencing some unusual growth spurts," he said, flipping through Brady’s medical history with a furrowed brow.

Brady nodded, his throat dry with apprehension. "Yeah, Doc. It’s been... pretty crazy."

Dr. Stevens conducted a thorough examination, measuring Brady’s height and weight, checking his blood pressure, and asking detailed questions about his recent growth patterns. The atmosphere in the room grew tense as they waited for the doctor’s diagnosis.

"Well, Brady, based on your symptoms and the rapid rate of growth you’ve experienced, I suspect you may have a rare condition called gigantism," Dr. Stevens explained carefully, watching Brady’s reaction closely.

"Gigantism?" Mrs. Thompson echoed, her voice trembling with concern. "But what does that mean? Is there a cure?"

Dr. Stevens sighed, his expression grave. "Gigantism is caused by an overproduction of growth hormone from the pituitary gland, usually due to a benign tumor. In your case, Brady, it seems that your pituitary gland is producing excessive amounts of growth hormone, causing your body to grow at an accelerated rate."

Brady felt a lump form in his throat as he absorbed the doctor’s words. A tumor? Excessive growth hormone? It all seemed surreal, like something out of a nightmare.

"We’ll need to conduct further tests to confirm the diagnosis," Dr. Stevens continued, his voice gentle but firm. "In the meantime, I’ll prescribe medication to help regulate your growth hormone levels and alleviate some of the symptoms."

As Brady nodded numbly, a sudden surge of pain shot through his legs. He gasped, clutching the edge of the examination table as the room seemed to spin around him.

"Brady, what’s happening?" Jake exclaimed, his voice tinged with panic.

Before anyone could react, Brady’s body began to elongate once more. With a series of loud cracks and snaps, his clothes tore apart at the seams, unable to contain the rapid growth that surged through him.

"Help!" Brady cried out, his voice strained with effort as he grew taller and taller. His head brushed against the ceiling, his limbs expanding until he stood at an incredible 8’8”.

Gasps filled the room as Dr. Stevens and Brady’s family watched in shock. The examination table creaked under Brady’s weight, the room feeling suddenly small and suffocating.

"We need to get him to the hospital," Dr. Stevens said urgently, his voice cutting through the stunned silence.

Brady’s parents and Jake sprang into action, guiding him carefully out of the examination room and into the waiting car. The drive to the hospital was a blur of sirens and worried voices, Brady clutching onto the hope that they would find answers and a way to stop his uncontrollable growth.

As they raced towards the hospital, Brady’s mind raced with fear and uncertainty. What would become of him if they couldn’t find a cure? Would he continue to grow indefinitely, his body becoming a prisoner to its own unstoppable growth?

Deep down, Brady knew that his life had changed forever, and the road ahead would be filled with challenges he had never imagined.
