Chapter #3

Dark Paradise

by: Nash Contra Author IconMail Icon
Groggy, I open my eyes...or try to? "Wait, they're not closed, it's just really dark. Oh! There's a faint glow, I can see a little now...am I in a cave?" All these thoughts and more rush through me as I regain consciousness.

"When did I lose it? Last thing I remember is...actually, I can't really remember anything. I have all my knowledge from my life. Favorite foods, anime, the fact I'm a furry, though not the super social kind, just the kind that reads stories and looks at the art, no cons for me. But I can't remember pretty much anything else. No name, no family, nothing...I'm kind of concerned now, what happened to me?!"

Looking around I see that I am, in fact, in a cave. But I can't seem to find the source of the glow. Every time I turn to look for it it seems to be coming from behind me. Or...am I glowing?! "Someone tell me what's going on!"

With a little chime a blue box appears and hovers in my vision. It's like I'm in VR or something.

Core System booting
Welcome, Core 50893. Please designate Dungeon name. _________

I blink for a second before saying the first thing to come to mind, "What...?"

Change Dungeon name to "What"? Y/N

"Wait, no, definitely not!" The blue box blinks out and back in, once more asking for a name. What is this? It's like- Did I get isekai'd?! Is that actually a thing?! I can't complain too hard. Didn't have the best life before, and isekai was one of my favorite anime genres. So I'm a dungeon...Management games were also a favorite of mine. This is like two of my favorite things combined...could I make it three? How much control do I have of the monsters I summon? Is it the kind of dungeon story where you have specific sets, or the kind where you can summon whatever you can imagine?

Welcome, Core 50893. Please designate Dungeon name. _________

Woah! Is the system getting impatient!? The heck?! Is it sentient? Ugh...fine...well, guess I should think of a good one...Hmm...Oh! Well, how about I try to theme it around sexy monster girls or something? Get some eye candy while I try to survive. Hope I get some control of my monsters or this'll make no sense. "Dark Paradise."

Change Dungeon name to "Dark Paradise"? Y/N

"Yup." As I respond the box vanishes and nothing seems to happen. "Was that it? Usually this is where it suddenly-" I'm cut off as the box reappears.

Core System Starting Initial Run Sequence.
Welcome Core 50893. Congratulations on establishing Dungeon Dark Paradise! Do your best not to get shattered. Think Status to bring up your Dungeon information. If you require assistance think Dungeon Mechanics and an index with relevant information will be provided. Good luck with your new life.

And with that the box vanishes. I wait for a few minutes in case it returns, but it doesn't. Ok. Time to unpack. I'm in another world. I'm a dungeon core. There's a blue box acting like a VR game interface. And the box is talking in a way that makes them sound like a person, not an AI or something. Is it the trope where the goddess or whatever is the one writing my system messages? Whatever. I suppose I need to see what I'm capable of first. "Status" Woah! How did I do that?! It's like there's some sort of pressure when I use that word? Is it because it's a system word? That felt weird. Whatever. The box has appeared. Time to see what I'm working with.
