Chapter #6

You try to fight

    by: Tom Author IconMail Icon
The rest of the day had been agonizing. Running errands, fetching coffee, acting as Jess’s personal servant—it was beyond humiliating. As you wiped down the break room for the fifth time, the anger inside you started to bubble. It wasn’t just about Jess and her bullying, or Amber’s mocking smiles. It was about your position. You were the manager—their manager—and yet they had treated you like a nobody all day. They had walked all over you, belittled you, and used you for their amusement.

Not anymore.

You slammed the cleaning rag down, fists clenched, fury rising within you. This wasn’t how things were supposed to be. You were tired of being humiliated, tired of letting them get away with it. It was time to take back control.

Without thinking, you stormed down the hallway, your heart pounding in your chest as the adrenaline surged. You didn’t care what they thought anymore—Jess, Amber, all of them—they needed to be reminded who was in charge.

You barged into Jess’s office without knocking, your breath heavy as you glared at her. Jess was lounging in her chair, her feet propped up on the desk as she scrolled through her phone. She barely glanced up at you before rolling her eyes.

“Oh, look who it is. Did you forget to bring me something?” she sneered.

That was it. The final straw. You stormed over to her desk, leaning forward until you were just inches away from her. “I’m the manager here, Jess! Me. You don’t get to order me around like some errand boy. I’ve had enough of your little games!”

Jess blinked, surprised for a moment, before her lips curled into a cold smile. “Oh, is that so?” she said, her voice low, dangerous. “And what exactly are you going to do about it?”

Your hands trembled, but you didn’t back down. “You think you can treat me like this? I’m the one in charge! You’re going to start showing me some respect, or else—”

Before you could finish your sentence, Jess’s hand lashed out. SLAP! The sharp sting of her palm against your cheek rang in the air, your head snapping to the side. For a second, you were stunned, your cheek burning with humiliation.

“How dare you come in here and talk to me like that,” Jess hissed, standing up from her chair, towering over you in her heels. Her face twisted with fury, but beneath that, there was an air of smug superiority, like she was enjoying this.

Before you could recover from the shock of the slap, you heard the door behind you swing open. Amber stormed in, her face filled with amusement as she took in the scene.

“Well, well, what do we have here?” Amber said, her voice laced with mockery. “Tom finally grew a backbone?”

“Not for long,” Jess snapped.

In the blink of an eye, Amber lunged at you, tackling you to the ground with surprising strength. You hit the floor hard, the wind knocked out of you as Amber pinned you down, her knee digging into your back. You struggled beneath her, trying to push her off, but she was relentless, pressing you into the cold office floor.

“Get off me!” you shouted, your voice muffled against the carpet.

Jess crouched down beside you, her face twisted in a cruel smirk. “I told you to know your place, Tom. But you just couldn’t help yourself, could you?”

Amber laughed as she held you down. “You should’ve known better than to mess with us.”

As you struggled beneath her, Jess grabbed a fistful of your hair, yanking your head back so you had no choice but to look up at her. “Do you really think you’re in charge here?” she asked, her voice dripping with disdain. “Because from where I’m standing, it looks like you’re the one being put in his place.”

You tried to protest, to push them off, but Jess’s grip on your hair tightened, and Amber’s weight on your back kept you pinned helplessly to the ground.

“You’re pathetic,” Jess continued, letting go of your hair only to press the heel of her stiletto into your shoulder, twisting it slightly. “A little manager with no real power. Did you really think you could take control of this office?”

Amber leaned in close to your ear, her breath hot against your skin. “Look at you, Tom. Struggling on the floor like a worm. I think we’ve all seen who’s really in charge here—and it’s not you.”

The humiliation was unbearable. You, the manager, pinned down on the floor, completely at their mercy. Jess’s heel dug into your skin, Amber’s knee pressing harder into your back, and you felt your resistance fading. This wasn’t just physical domination—it was the complete stripping away of whatever dignity you had left.

“You think you can just walk in here and demand respect?” Jess asked, her voice low and menacing. “You haven’t earned it. Not from me, not from Amber, not from anyone.”

Amber leaned back, releasing her hold on you but keeping her knee on your back. “You’re lucky Jess didn’t fire you already. Maybe we should just kick you out of the office and see how far you get without us.”

“Or,” Jess added, her heel lifting from your shoulder, “we could keep you around—for fun. Like today, when you ran around doing everything we asked.” She tapped her foot against your shoulder, forcing your head lower. “That seemed to suit you.”

Your cheeks burned with shame, and the weight of their words pressed down on you just as heavily as Amber’s knee.

“You’ll do what we say from now on,” Jess said, standing over you with an air of victory. “Because let’s be honest—you’re nothing without us.”

Amber finally stood up, allowing you to breathe, though the weight of their humiliation remained. You lay there, beaten, broken, the power dynamic between you and them flipped completely.

Jess glanced down at you one last time, her cold smile returning. “You should’ve known better, Tom. Maybe next time, you’ll think twice before trying to act like you’re in charge.”

With that, they both left the room, leaving you alone on the floor, the sting of their domination still fresh in your mind.
