Chapter #6

Skip the sex!

Albert lay on his back, staring at the ceiling fan as it lazily spun above him. His breathing was heavy, and his mind raced as he tried to make sense of what had just happened. His new body—a young woman’s—was warm, exhausted, and alien to him in every way. He could still feel the awkward intimacy of the encounter he’d just shared with Marvin, a fellow old man trapped in a young man’s body. He hated every second of it, but in a cruel way, it was a necessary step toward reclaiming his old life.

Marvin lay beside him, his broad, muscular chest rising and falling with steady breaths. His old, weathered face looked oddly peaceful against the youthful body he inhabited. Albert turned his head slightly, his own wrinkled face looking absurd atop his curvaceous, busty form.

For a few moments, neither of them spoke, each lost in their own thoughts. The silence stretched between them like a heavy fog until Marvin broke it with a quiet chuckle.

“Well,” Marvin said, his voice thick with exhaustion, “that was… something.”

Albert grunted, too worn out and embarrassed to respond with anything meaningful.

Marvin propped himself up on one elbow, glancing over at Albert with a wry smile. “I guess we should get used to it, huh? If this is what it takes.”

Albert groaned, rubbing his face in frustration. “Yeah. But I don’t think I’ll ever get used to this.”

Marvin sighed, lying back again and folding his arms behind his head. “Same here, man. Same here.”

They lay there in silence for a few more minutes, the awkward tension slowly giving way to a strange kind of companionship. Albert had spent the past 24 hours feeling trapped, humiliated, and isolated—but now, lying here with someone who understood exactly what he was going through, the weight on his shoulders didn’t feel quite as heavy.

“So,” Marvin said, breaking the silence again, “what’s your story, Albert? Who were you before… all this?”

Albert turned his head slightly, staring at the ceiling. “I was a retired mechanic,” he muttered. “Had my own shop for thirty years. Worked on cars, motorcycles, anything with an engine. That was my life.”

Marvin nodded. “Sounds like honest work.”

Albert gave a small, bitter laugh. “Yeah, well, honest work doesn’t always pay the bills. That’s how I got mixed up with Leo. Borrowed money to keep the shop running when things got tough. Thought I’d pay it off quick, but, you know… life happens. And Leo doesn’t exactly forgive or forget.”

Marvin let out a low whistle. “Yeah, I know that feeling.” He paused for a moment, then added, “I was an insurance broker. Had a decent life—wife, two kids, house in the suburbs. But I liked to gamble. A little too much.”

Albert glanced at him. “Gambling debt?”

Marvin nodded grimly. “Yep. I thought I could beat the odds. Thought I’d win big and pay everything off before anyone noticed. But it didn’t work out that way. I ended up owing Tony a fortune. And now here I am. Young body, old head, and no idea how the hell to get my life back.”

Albert gave a dry laugh. “Sounds like we both made some real smart decisions, huh?”

Marvin chuckled. “Yeah. You could say that.”

They lapsed into silence again, but this time it felt more comfortable, like two old friends sharing war stories. The absurdity of their situation—the fact that they were lying in bed together, trapped in the wrong bodies and forced into a twisted relationship—was almost laughable. Almost.

“What about your family?” Albert asked after a while. “Your wife and kids—do they know?”

Marvin shook his head. “No. Tony made sure of that. As far as they’re concerned, I just… disappeared. Probably think I ran off to avoid the debt.”

Albert frowned. “That’s rough.”

Marvin shrugged, though the sadness in his expression was impossible to miss. “Yeah. But it’s better this way, I guess. If they saw me like this…” He trailed off, gesturing to his youthful body with a bitter smile. “Let’s just say it wouldn’t go over well.”

Albert nodded, understanding all too well. “I didn’t have much family,” he said quietly. “A couple of friends, a sister I don’t talk to anymore. Never married. No kids. Just me and the shop.”

Marvin gave him a sympathetic look. “I guess that makes it easier, in a way.”

“Maybe.” Albert sighed, running a hand through his thinning hair. “But it doesn’t make this any less messed up.”

Marvin chuckled softly. “You got that right.”

They lay there in companionable silence for a while longer, the weight of their shared experiences creating an odd sense of camaraderie between them. In any other situation, they might have been friends—two old men trading stories over beers, complaining about the state of the world. But here, in this strange, twisted reality, they were something else entirely. Partners. Allies. Maybe even something more.

“So,” Marvin said after a while, his voice light with weary humor, “think we’ll actually make it to three kids?”

Albert groaned, covering his breasts with his hands. “Don’t remind me.”

Marvin laughed—a deep, hearty laugh that felt oddly out of place coming from his young, muscular body. “Hey, at least we’ve got each other, right?”

Albert couldn’t help but crack a small, reluctant smile. “Yeah,” he muttered. “I guess we do.”

And in that moment, lying there in the strange new life they’d been forced into, Albert felt something he hadn’t felt in a long time. Not hope, exactly—but maybe something close. A flicker of determination.

Because if he and Marvin were going to get through this, they were going to do it together. One absurd, humiliating step at a time.
