One on one, very few can stand toe to to with an enraged Urgai trained in the method of combat peculiar to the Urgai.

Which is why a soldier never fights a warrior one-on-one. Even in single combat, the soldier has training and logistics to give him the edge.

Which is why, twenty years ago, at the age of sixteen, you joined the Royal Army. During that twenty years, you not only learned how to fight with arms and armor superior to the barbarous opponents you encountered, but you learned tactics, strategy and logistics as well.

Possibly you could have reached the rank of Marshall if you had remained in the Royal Army for another decade, but you decided to muster out while you still felt, if not young, then at least youngish.

You’re sitting in The Eastern Pass, a tavern in your home town of Diyop, waiting for five fellow veterans, all twenty year men,,waiting to join you.

One of the individuals arriving will be Aranyaka, a six foot five inch tall Lupin spy. Lupins are anthropomorphic dire wolves. Lupins in the kingdom are gray furred, with the average male standing seven foot tall. Another veteran arriving will be Antor, an eight and a quarter foot tallTembo priest of Fajsul, the god of war. The Tembo are anthropomorphic elephants, with the average male Tembo standing eight feet tall. Antor grew up in the Tembo region of Bantul, where hundreds of Tembo fled to generations ago after being on the losing side of a civil war in lands far to the south of the Kingdom.

Next is Ragirn, a human Strider. Striders serve as the elite scouts of the Royal Army. They are trained to “live off the land” regardless of the terrain. Striders have received special training from the various nonhumans who live in the Kingdom. They’re more than adequate with the sword, but they’re demons with the longbow.

Then you have Dunkan Dourspike, a four and half foot dwarf who is a master forger and more than adequate with a crossbow.

Finally, you have Venot, a human soldier who has been your sergeant, batman and right hand man for the last ten years of your career.

As soon as the six of you are gathered, you’ll be discussing the first part of your journey, travelling to
