As your alarm goes off, you sit up in your bed, turning the alarm off as you realize it's finally summer break. Your parents left the night before for a work trip and won't be back until the end of summer. Looking at the clock, you see that it's 7am so you should wake up your sisters and see if they want something to eat.
Knocking on each of their doors, only Samantha answers. "Go away!" You shrug and go back to your room to get dressed.
Once you're ready, you go out the front door and lock it behind you. Knowing what each of them likes, you decide to go to the local deli to get all of them something to eat.
Hopping on your bike, you get to an intersection, click the button for the crosswalk. After a few seconds, you get the right-away and start heading across.
Suddenly, you hear a car horn and look to your right. But it's too late and everything goes dark.
As you open your eyes, you see nothing but a black void. Looking around, you see an old man sitting nearby, legs crossed with his hands on his lap and his eyes closed. You approach him cautiously.
"Hello?" You ask.
"Quite the unfortunate sight." He replies as his eyes open to look at you.
"Excuse me?"
"Oh, my apologies. I was referring to how you died. Just because you had the right-away, doesn't mean you shouldn't still look before crossing the street."
"Wait. Am I dead?"
"Unfortunately. At least it was quick. Most aren't that lucky."
"Thanks for the consolation..." You reply, somewhat annoyed by how casual he seems.
"Would you like to try again?"
"What? Like reincarnate?" You ask, confused.
"Not quite. You see, I've been rather bored lately and thought it'd be interesting to have someone young, like yourself, take on an interesting challenge. If you succeed, I can turn back the clock to a few minutes before your death and I'll let you remember everything so you can avoid this outcome."
"Really?! What do I have to do?!" You ask, excitedly.
"All you have to do is survive for 24 hours straight in your own house."
"That's it? Not much of a challenge."
"Oh, sorry. You would be shrunken for this."
"What?"
"I'll shrink you down to about half an inch in height and you just need to survive for 24 hours. Best part is that you can't lose. If you die, you just reappear somewhere in the house and your 24 hours resets. You can continue this over and over until you succeed." The old man smiles.
"I don't know. Seems like it could be really painful overall."
"Well, I can always send you downstairs. You have treated your oldest sister rather poorly these last few years." He smirks.
"Grrr. Fine. Guess I don't have a choice."
"Fantastic. I'll start you off on the floor of your own bedroom."
"For the record, I don't like the thought that you might have been watching me my entire life."
"Noted. But don't worry, you're not the only one." He says as he snaps his fingers, creating a bright flash of light.
When the light clears, you realize you really are back in your room, but everything is huge. "Well, guess I might as well find a place to hide and wait out the 24 hours. If all I have to do is survive, there isn't much point in risking my life to get help."
What happens next?
