"Well it doesn't start until nine, buddy, but it does take a little walk to get there. Plus you don't know the campus well, so meet at my dorm at eight thirty," said Jared as he scribbled down his full name, room number, and cell phone number. He then passes you this as well as a pen and another scrap.

"Hey you're just two floors below me, buddy," Jared realizes with his usual grin.
You leave the cafeteria, but do not feel ready to join up with your roommates. You are sure by now that the jock and the fat one are having some sort of dispute and the nerd is either hoping you will return to resolve this or he is doing something online, completely ignoring the fight. At eight thirty, you climb up the dormitory stairs to Jared's room, hoping on the way not to bump into anyone you know. For some reason, you sort of feel guilty hanging out with Jared, but you can't discover exactly why you feel like this, why it feel wrong to hang out with your RA.
"Hey buddy," says Jared. "You'll be wanting some of this." He then hands you a glass of vodka. "Drink up, everyone shows up after some pregame. My friend's parties are always amazing, but he sucks buying the liquor.
Not wanting to be a stupid alcohol fearing freshman, you chug down the vodka. You have never had it before, so you drink it a bit fast. His smile appears as your vision blurs.
The party is nice, but there are a lot of guys there. Your memory of it is a bit fuzzy because Jared keeps passing you more drinks, but it all seems like fun. You remember that Jared wants you to do something, but you really didn't want to do it. You remember saying that's not your way, but you don't remember anything more until you awake the next morning.
