As he was in the car heading over to his required destination, Jack got a phone call from his boss, Brenna. "Hello?" Jack spoke as he put his phone on speaker. "Hi, Jack. Listen, I just wanted to clarify with you before the meeting to day. You aren't required by any means to present any of your numbers to the team that will be attending the meeting today. If you would like to, to boost our local firm, you are more than welcome to. I may need you to provide separate copies of the data I have collected when we arrive and begin the meeting. We'll determine what is and isn't necessary during the meeting itself, so don't feel as though we're looking for you to have all of this prepared when you get to the site," Brenna concluded. Jack nodded and contiued driving nearer to the meeting site. "Understood. Tell you what, I'll be prepared to do whatever is necessary once I get there. Just let me know at any time if you need something specific done and I'll have it done," the agent replied. "Good man. See you soon, Jack." And with that, the call ended. Jack wasn't feeling entirely confident after that phone call, considering the uncertainty of what his boss was going to have him do, but he at least felt good that his boss had confidence in him. During the rest of the car ride, though, he put those thoughts aside and soon arrived at the building where the meeting was taking place.
As Jack was climbing out of the car and getting his things from the back seat, he felt something in his jacket pocket. Confused as to what he put there, Jack reached in and pulled out a familiar device. "You're kidding me..." he muttered. Jack lurched his head back in annoyance as he realized he pulled out his shrink ray. "I completely forgot I didn't take this out after the presentation with the researchers. Shit. Nothing I can do now though, there's not a good spot in the car to keep it." Jack slid the shrink ray back into his coat pocket then grabbed his suitcase and walked into the building where he was immediately met by Brenna.
"Jack, excellent, welcome. We are in conference room C today, which is straight down this hall and the last room on the right. We all have assigned seats for this meeting, welcome back to elementary school," the boss joked. Jack nervously laughed and replied. "Thanks. I have all the reports of my numbers here, just in case the opportunity arises to present them. Otherwise, like we talked about, just let me know if there's anything else I can do." Brenna smiled then ushered Jack to the conference room. The two sat next to each other in the middle of the conference table and relaxed as the room slowly filled with people. Soon after, the meeting started. A man not much older than Brenna began speaking, welcoming everyone and explaining the layout for the meeting. Jack listened diligently as the man went through each part of what was to be discussed before he passed the floor off to an associate sitting next to him. The associate reminded everyone that the meeting would largely be informal. If there were to be any unexpected findings worth mentioning, time would be allocated to obtain the necessary information. Almost immediately, several different associates spoke up about collecting more information. With that in mind, Brenna turned to Jack and asked him to collect more of her numbers. "I have all of the data sheets necessary on this USB. If you plug this into the printer out in the lobby, you can print out a copy for each person here. Take your time, it sounds like it might be a while until we're ready to discuss things." With that directive, Jack went out to the lobby with the USB.
As he was printing off the copies of his boss's numbers, there was a familiar sensation coming from his coat pocket. Jack immediately retrieved the shrink ray out from his pocket and discovered it had been activated. "Shit!" he whispered. "This stupid thing, how did it activate?" The answers weren't important, though, because in a moment's notice, Jack shrunk down to the not so unsual size of a few inches tall. "Son of a bitch, I hope no one saw this," Jack muttered. He looked around and the coast looked clear. The shrink ray, which thaknfully shrunk with Jack, was still in his hand and he looked back to try and grow back. Instead, Jack was met with a cooldown screen. "Cooldown? This thing is cooling down right now? Are you serious? Out of all the times..." The cooldown read three hours. This meant that poor Jack couldn't grow back for another three hours. Right before a huge meeting with his boss. Now Jack had to determine what his next course of action was.
What was it Jack decided to do?
