Chapter #4

Captive of Cardac

    by: Doom Author IconMail Icon
Dauphin couldn't believe her ears as the guard captain told the black clad horseman that he was welcome to her.

"Sorry," he told her as he turned his crossbow on her, "but my duty is to the city first and foremost. Way I see it, rather you than us."

The faelan was restrained by several guards and, despite it kicking several to the ground, they managed to tie it down with strong ropes. Dauphin moved to help it, but the captain and several other crossbowmen cut her off and nudged her away.

She had no choice but to comply - she couldn't help her steed if she was peppered with bolts. But she would return, and pay them back for this...

"I will see you again," she hissed to the captain.

The warriors of Cardac moved forward to apprehend her, while their skull masked leader rode closer.

"Thank you for your co-operation. Rest assured, this fugitive will trouble you no more."

The captain, still unnerved by the presence of so many of the enemy, smiled nervously and gripped his crossbow tighter. But he did nothing to help as Cardac's men bound Dauphin by hand and foot with chain.

"The faelan?"

"Oh, the horse beast. By all means, you are free to keep it. Cardac has no need of such things. He has more than enough already, doesn't he, Dauphin?"

He was smiling under that mask, she knew it. But she didn't reply, she wouldn't give him the satisfaction. She was roughly pulled onto the back of a horse, and taken with the rest of the cavalry troop back into the darkness far from the city. There, well out of catapult range, the commander of Cardac turned his steed around to gaze back at the city.

"Really, Dauphin, you could have gone anywhere, and you chose this pit. Your father would have wept."

Again Dauphin didn't reply. The memories were still too fresh.

"Take one last look, Dauphin."

You have the following choices:

1. The masked rider recommences the attack on the city

2. Dauphin is taken to Cardac
