Chapter #3

Trust in no one

Delpheus hid his inner smile. Everything was going exactly to plan - his plan.

It was not as if he hated Dauphin. She was his sister and, if she had not been the first born, he would have loved her truly. However, only one of them could be in power, and as first born the duty had gone to her and he was left merely as an adviser, a watcher from the sidelines. Whilst Dauphin commanded armies, all he could do was plot.

It had been surprisingly simple to plant the evidence so Dauphin believed that her country was being attacked from this harmless land. Needless to say the real attackers had been mercenaries employed by him, paid also to leave clues pointing to here. Whereas Dauphin would never relinquish power willingly, if she discovered she had authorised the slaughter of thousands of innocents, her honour would not allow her to rule still. And so her successor, her brother, would gain power and the added bonus of an additional kingdom won in the war. Not bad for a day's work!

It was a perfect plan as he had always been openly against the idea of attacking the land to Dauphin's face. Now all he had to do was lead her to the conclusion that her actions had been evil....

"Let us make for the imperial palace. We will find out everything we need to know from their King," Delpheus called to Dauphin.

You have the following choices:

1. They attack the palace itself

2. A messenger arrives with news
