"Very well." the old crone says. You take the bottle of pills and head home. Once home, you decide to take a pill. 'Better get this over with quickly before I change my mind and flush 'em down the toilet" you think. You pop a pill in your mouth and watch for an effect. A few minutes go by and you do not notice anything happening. 'Figures!' you think and head toward the bathroom to dump the bottle. As you walk, you notice you have a bit more bounce in your step and your feet don't push down on the floor with as much force as they usually do (not that anybody would notice something like that, it's just one of those things the mind unconsciously takes note of). When you get to the bathroom the mirror that happens to be right behind the door catches your eye. Or, more specifically, your reflection in the mirror catches your eye. There seems to be something different about your body, but you don't know what. As far as you can tell, you look exactly the same (again, just something the mind automatically takes note of). You pinch your cheek and even though there is feeling, there was a lot less pain than there should have been. You reach down, cover your arm with your hand and squeeze. Your hand squeezed all the way through, and the lower part of your arm puffs out a bit from the displacement of the area under your hand. 'Right, so they do work; but how does that make me feel?'
