A Talk with Maurice

by: Hidden Author Author IconMail Icon
"Where were you?" said Alex. "Remember Reginald?" asked Maurice. "Yes," said Alex. Reginald and Maurice were childhood rivals. After awhile Alex snuck into Reginald's family's cottage (it had an entrance but no door) and pelted a sleeping Reginald with rotten eggs in his bed! Then Reginald and five of his friends seized Maurice and gave him a rather nasty beating. "Well afterwards I decided that never again could I undergo such a humiliation- therefore I left...with you with Drucilla I could learn to be a man among men...without a dependent I could go anywhere in my quest for manhood...then I went to a town...become a laborer by day and an aide to a prizefighter by night...and now I am tough...with my might and my wit I found Reginald alone and
beat him down and now I have my dignity! Now what's your story?" Alex told him and Maurice whistled and said "Well then today is your lucky day; I have dealt with my humiliation- now I can help you, brother!"
