She heard someone enter her lab

Trunks, her 12-year-old son, came dashing in. "Mom, can me and Goten have some money to buy this new-" Trunks stopped mid-question when he saw Bulma. "M-mom, why are you fat?" Trunks asked, doing a once over on his mother. "I honestly don't know," She replied, standing up. Her fat jiggled when she did. "I have to find a way to fix this, but I'm soooo hungry," Bulma whined, rubbing her stomach. "Mom, I guess that it could be okay, as long as you think so," Trunks said, walking over to his mom to hug her. "Plus, hugs are warmer now!" He hugged Bulma, and she hugged him back. "I'm still finding a cure! What would Vegeta think!" Bulma said, sitting back down at her desk.
