Emma dialed her best friend's number. "Hello?" a friendly voice asked. It was Daniella's mother.

"Is Daniella home?" Emma asked, timidly.

"No, she's out with a friend," her mom explained. "Good-bye, Emma. I'll tell her you called."

"Bye," Emma said, plopping down the phone. Emma wondered who the new friend was that Daniella was hanging out with. She sighed.
