Eric invents the world's first shrink ray; a test goes awry.
This choice: Eric charges out to confront the two giants  •  Go Back...
Chapter #5

The Great Hallway

    by: GulliverUT
Tom smiled at Don. Eric had called Tom here
to meet him, but now he was nowhere to be
found. Don, Eric's assistant, didn't seem to
know much about Eric's whereabouts either.

It wasn't like Eric to stand him up. Whatever
came up must have been important. Besides,
he thought, Eric could always call him on his
cell phone whenever he got back. There were
certainly worse ways to pass the time than by
sharing a few drinks with Eric's assistant.

"Good," Tom brightened. "How about that
corner bar just across campus -- the one right
across from the dorms?"

Don rubbed the back of his neck and looked
up from the darkened console of Eric's device.
"Sure," he answered again. "We can walk from
here, I you want."

Tom's eyes settled again on Don's
well-formed ass and he smiled wider. "Lead
the way."

Watching the scene from under the platform,
Eric seethed. He started after the giants,
sprinting across the wide expanse of floor as
his boyfriend and his lab assistant reached
the door.

"Hey!!" He shouted up angrily at the two
enormous figures as they walked through the
doorway. "God damn it! Where the fuck do you
two think you're going?!" Eric yelled at the two
giants, briefly losing sight of his predicament
in his anger at what he had just witnessed.

Tom and Don were out into the hallway by the
time Eric reached the door, seemingly
oblivious to the tiny shouts. Eric had barely
enough time to slip through the doorway
before the massive wooden door clicked shut.

Eric's lab coat flapped wildly as he raced
down the expanse of the hallway toward the
two giants, who were rapidly gaining distance
on him. Even as he ran, Eric was beginning to
realize the full scale of his surroundings. Tom
and Don were almost at the end of the hall,
but Eric had only reached the base of the next
doorway down the hall. They rounded the
corner, talking in the distance as they left his
view.

Eric stopped to catch his breath next to an
enormously tall object -- a waste receptacle,
he realized absently. He steadied himself
against it. The cool plastic felt strange against
his tiny hand.

He would never be able to keep up with the
two giants, even at their relatively leisurely
pace. He looked around, shuddering at how
tiny he felt in the enormous hallway. At this
size, each linoleum tile was almost twice as
wide as his height. Further, bits of dust, dirt
and trash had become magnified into small
pieces of rubble strewn about his path. It was
fortunate that it was late enough that most
students and even staff members had left for
the evening, or he'd have to contend with them
as well.

No sooner had this thought registered in
Eric's mind than he suddenly heard the
squeak of footsteps approaching from the
hallway behind him. Eric whirled around to
see an enormous athletic giant enter the hall.

Scott, a promising ball player but less
promising science student who was currently
failing Eric's class, rounded the corner and
came into view. He seemed to be in a hurry,
and zeroed in on Eric's lab. He opened the
door enough to poke his head into the lab
room.

"Professor Brevard? You here?"

Shrugging, Scott closed the door again and
continued down the hall toward Eric.

Momentarily frozen, Eric hid behind the waste
receptacle.

Scott reached the door next to Eric, pushed it
open, and stepped inside. The door swung
shut before Eric could reach it, but he noticed
that the gap under the door was wide enough
that he could probably squeeze underneath
with little effort. In fact, all the doors in the
hallway (with the probable exception of the
outside doors) seemed to be similarly
constructed.

You have the following choices:

1. Squeeze under this door to follow Scott

*Noteb*
2. Continue down the hallway

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
