Bella decided to stop talking about her dream. She couldn't remember what happened in it, only how she felt when she woke up, and it wasn't as if there was any point in over analysing it. She usually prided herself that she was too pragmatic to sit around talking a subject to death. "What were you about to do when I arrived?" she asked Will.
He smiled at her shyly. "I was about to hit the Net."
"Plus ca change" murmured Scout, and Bella rolled her eyes. Scout explained "He says he can find the dirt on our new teacher." He dug through the rubble by the window for some candy to offer Bella. She was pretty.
"It probably won't be very interesting." Will thought any staff who got hired in such a good school would have impeccable credentials. "..oh."
"What?"
"Odd. Really strange."
"Will" Bella said in exasperation, "if you don't get more specific now, I swear-"
"Oh, sorry. It's just, why would Rawley hire a museum curator and folklore specialist to teach English?"
Bella frowned. "Maybe he's having a mid life crisis."
"He's not old enough. His degree was about ten years ago, and he took it very young." Will smiled. "He got a scholarship."
"Who from?" Bella and Will had spent the last couple of years hunting down the requirements of each and every scholarship they encountered.
""The Council." What's that? ..Huh. His dissertation was on fetish objects."
Scout guffawed.
"-not that kind. Anthropology. And he's published a lot of articles about mythology and how certain fairy stories get retold over and over in all the different cultures.." Will's voice tailed off.
"Well, we are doing Midsummer Night's Dream this term."
Bella looked at Will. She knew what he was thinking. "You want more info about this Council that gives out scholarships, don't you?"
He looked sheepish. "It's like, a quest, or something. Finding this kind of stuff."
