You walk east along the ledge, hugging the wall of rock to your left. You aren't all that afraid of heights, but the drop off to your right is a long, long fall down to the river at the bottom of the canyon.
You haven't gone far before you hear the faint sound of drums drifting up out of the canyon. As you round a bend in the trail, a village comes into view far below. It is only a few primitive huts by the riverside. There are some people at the edge of the river, some actually in the water. It's a long way off, but even at this distance you can see that they aren't wearing any clothes.
The trail forks here and one fork will carry you down to the village, while the other fork seems to go on up out of the canyon.
