Gathering up the largest twigs and pine-needles you can carry, you start construction of the bridge. Pebbles are out of the question since they're simply too large for you but you start laying down some groundwork anyways. Starting with twigs you lay them half in the stream and half on land to make sure the bridge doesn't drift away. Gradually you work your way across laying new pieces where they seem least likely to give away and with only one exception where a pine-needle floated away you successfully cross the stream and stand proud on the other side of it.
Now with the stream matter out of the way, you look to other directions. The ground slopes up to your right up to a rocky hillside. On your left, downstream, the ground leads into a muddy area with lots of plant-life. Straight ahead is not an option as there is a sharp rise in the terrain, almost like a cliff covering your view in that direction.
