Chapter #6

Guilmon's Unstoppable Growth

    by: Booger
Suddenly, there was a loud thud and everyone looked to see that Guilmon's head had finally hit the ceiling of the hut, and now it was starting to make cracks in it.

"Guilmon!" cried out Takato, "Are you okay boy?"

The muscular reptile digimon grunted as he looked down at his tamer, who appeared so much smaller now. Guilmon had to be at least four times Takato's height. The boy didn't even come up to his bulging calf muscles.

"I'm okay Takato. A bit scared, but okay. I just hope I won't grow anymore." Unfortunately, that was to no avail, as Guilmon's muscles became more firm and larger. He bent down on his knees and stomach to avoid destroying the hut, but in a matter of seconds his back and shoulders were pressing against the ceiling and the cracking continued.

Rika and Renamon looked up in awe. Right before their eyes, Guilmon, the dopey little digimon they had always known and respected, was now growing into a virtual titan of muscle and power. With his strength alone, he could probably wipe out any champion--even any ultimate level digimon.

Guilmon's tail pushed far back against one wall while his arms and legs began to push against the other walls. His humongous neck began to stretch out, forcing his large snout to push out towards Takato, who had little room left to move about within the hut.

"Takato!" cried Guilmon, "you've got to get out of here! Take the others and run away! If I can't stop growing, I could accidentally crush you all--and I won't let that happen!" The gigantic digimon moaned as his entire back now pushed against the ceiling, causing it to fracture and split in two.

"I'm not gonna leave you Guilmon!" replied Takato, "You're my partner, and what kind of digimon tamer would I be if I abandoned you?"

"Takato, we don't have time for this!" yelled Rika, "I know you care for Guilmon, but he's trying to protect you. At the rate he's growing, you'll end up--"

"Would you abandon Renamon if this was happening to her, Rika?" interrupted Takato, who had tears in his eyes now. Rika was left speechless. He did have a point. If this were happening to HER partner, she surely couldn't--no, she WOULDN'T ever dare abandon Renamon, even if it put her in imminent danger.

Suddenly, a large part of the ceiling collapsed and fell directly over Rika. Renamon, sensing this, quickly jumped towards Rika, tackling her and rolling her out of the way before the debris smashed into the ground.

"Renamon," Rika said softly, "thank you." Without her partner, she'd be dead right now.

"Don't mention it Rika." replied the fox digimon. She smiled for a second, but then realized that in another minute that the entire hut was going to collapse. "We have to get out of here now Rika." Rika nodded and yelled to Takato.

"Hey goggle-head, we're getting out of here, and I know that this hurts abandoning him, but Guilmon will be fine, so get your butt out of there!" With that, the duo was out the door and far from the hut.

But Takato wasn't listening. He merely hugged the muzzle of his titanic friend, tears streaming down the cheeks of his face. He felt ashamed to be crying like this. He hadn's cried this much since Guilmon first digivolved into Growlmon, and even though he looked big and scary, it was only a fraction of the intimidation that Guilmon's current size and power showed.

"If Guilmon's in trouble," thought Takato, "I'll be there for him, EVEN IF IT COSTS ME MY LIFE!" A moment later, as the building was ready to collapse, he heard a soft voice from somewhere close to him. It was Guilmon's voice.

"Takato, I know that you care about me. I'm greatful for that, but I can't let you do this. I care about you too much to let anything bad happen to you because of me. Don't worry about me, I'll be okay." The big simpleton smiled as he reached out a massive claw for Takato, gently holding him.

With Takato snatched gently in one arm, Guilmon cocked back the other arm, his muscles bulging as they did, and puched with all of his force a hole in the wall were Takato was just standing. The hole was a good ten feet high and several feet wide. The giant digimon then took one final look at his partner with a smile.

"Like I said, I'm not gonna let anything bad happen to you, tamer." He then pushed the arm holding Takato through the hole, which was relatively small to Guilmon at his current size, and gently let his tamer go. Takato fell softly onto the grass outside the hut and looked back as the giant arm grew and the hut itself began to give way altogether.

"Guilmon!" shouted the young boy as the hut nearly exploded, sending dust and debris everywhere. A big chunk of it nearly came falling towards Takato, but then a yellow blur snatched him away before it landed.

Takato looked to see just what had saved him at the last second and found himself in the arms of Renamon.

"You okay Takato?" she asked. Takato nodded yes. Once again the fox digimon saved the day. She released him on the ground and nodded to Rika a few feet away.

"Well, it's a good thing we stayed around or else you'd be as flat as a pancake right about now, goggle-head." stated the slightly-sassy female tamer.

"Yeah, thank you both." he answered back. With that, he turned towards the remains of the hut to see that the dust had cleared and now standing amongst the wreckage was a towering, muscular-built, god-like, fifty-foot Guilmon. His body was rippling with muscles and power. Every part of his body--his arms, legs, chest, theighs, neck, back, hind-end, claws and feet, even his tail was built to solid perfection. His yellow eyes had narrowed becoming shinier and more open and slightly changed to a nearly pure golden color. His defined mouth was filled with solid shining pearl white teeth that were sharper than any blade and harder than solid steel. His chest and stomach were colored in a pure snow white while the rest of his body was colored in a fiery bright red. His claws and toes were much thicker and sharper now as well. The markings on his body had grown with him as well, becoming darker and more well designed.

"Guilmon!" cried out Takato, "can you hear me Guilmon?"

With that, the titan of a digimon turned towards where the sound came from. Apparently, that card also heightened Guilmon's hearing, sight, smell, and touch as well as his overall size and strength. He looked down to see what looked at first like three dolls a few yards away. But when he squinted his eyes, he found them to be Takato, Renamon, and Rika.

"Hi Takato, I can hear you!" he shouted, not knowing how loud his voice was now, as it caused a small quake in the area and shook the trees, causing entire flocks of birds to take to the skies. Takato was in shock of Guilmon's voice alone, and wondered just how powerful was he now.

Guilmon looked back and was glad to see his partner safe from harm, when he realized one thing: He had stopped growing--for the time being anyway. It seemed as though the card's power had worn off, but you could never be sure. With that he walked over towards the gang gently, for he also knew that his new size meant extra weight--by a couple tens (if not hundreds) of tons in this case--which meant possible damage even at the slightest gesture. It was when he was right in front of them that something a few feet off in the forest came out, which turned out to be...
