Chapter #5
Daniel's Memories
by: Unknown
Daniel fingered every thing in his treasure chest, from his sister's favorite doll she had given him before he left, his mother's silver neckalce, to his father's drawing of his favorite horse...
he sighed stared at a family potrait, ripped and tattered from travel. he kept it with him always when he went somewhere. they seemed so far away, now, on the small farms in the outskirts of the kingdom, right next the the forest. and, as always when he saw the painting, wondered if coming to the palace to train for a knight was worth leaving his family behind.
he shook his head. "Become a knight," he whispered to himself. "Protect them from the horrors in the forests..."
the doubt was still there. closing his eyes, Daniel imagined his sisters welcoming squeals, his mother's joyful cries, his father's back-breaking hug...
Isabelle cleared her throat behind him.
Daniel spun around.
"Oh! Isabelle!" he said, getting to his feet. "What brings you here?"
"I want to run away," Isabelle replied. "Can you come?"
Daniel hesitated.
"We'll be taking the forest path..."
