Bob had Hailey back up to six inches when the machine blew again. He gave a huge sigh of relief. A six inch Hailey was not a Hailey who had disappeared from view. Bob quickly ran over to Hailey who, even though being just six inches tall, didn't seem any worse for wear.
"Hailey, are you OK?"
"Bob, it was amazing. I was like a millimeter high. That's my conjecture anyway. I could see larger molecules, Bob."
"But you're OK?"
Hailey laughed as she looked up at her giant partner. "Well, other than you seem to be at least sixty-five feet tall to me now, I'd say I'm OK! So when do I get restored to normal size? I've got tons of observations to write. The contributions to subatomic theoretical
physics our invention represents is going to turn the scientific world on its ear."
Bob was glad that the only effect being shrunk down to one millimeter had had on Hailey was spur her scientific curiosity.
"It's going to be at least an hour. Maybe two. I want to run some diagnostic checks first. For now, how about I lift you up to the table top?"
Hailey nodded as Bob put his hand palm up on the floor. Hailey climbed into as Bob lifted her up to the table top. In the process, Bob got a closer look at his colleague. Besides being shrunk down to six inches,...
