You follow your parents into the motel lobby. As soon as you walk through those swinging doors, you are struck by it's cleanliness. There are no stains on the carpet, no child has carelessly scattered the rack of coloring books next to the front desk, the lobby is uncluttered with fake plants. It is absolutely perfect, and that is exactly what scares you. Museums are perfect. Well kept cemetaries are perfect.
Your creepy feelings are amplified by the fact the lobby is completely deserted. You look at the chair that is turned away from you behind the front desk. Is it empty, or is there someone sitting in it, waiting for you to get close?
