Chapter #4

Robyn--Stubborn friendship

by: Beth Barnett Author IconMail Icon
is struck by another noise. It sounded like the pur of a well-kept sports car. Eliza looked out of the window, and the headlights blinded her.

Great, only Robyn would be daring enough to drive in this mess of a storm. She said she wouldn't come, but, perhaps she could be of some help.

Eliza opened the door and a wash of wind and water soaked her.

Robyn walked through the mud with ease, with the usual smile on her delicate face. She took off her coat when she stepped inside, and it plopped on the floor, leaving a large puddle. "I had a bad feeling about you being alone out here tonight. She peered over Eliza's shoulder at Trevor, who sat up and groggily rubbed his eyes. "I'm sorry. I didn't realize you had company."

"He just wandered in. I've never seen him before."

Robyn approached Trevor, he could feel her probe his mind. "You abandoned your car far from here. You are safe now."

"How did you know that I left my car? You seemed to have driven here with no harm to you."

"I prayed the whole way here. And, as far as knowing what you have done, I can read your mind. Eliza is a dear friend from high school, so she knows that I tell the truth. I simply cannot lie. If I could lie, the doctors would tell me that my Autism is completely gone. Unfortunately, though, I drove here in sensory overload, not actually paying attention to any danger that was outside of the car. It was torture to just hold the steering wheel, but stupid me decided to make sure she was all right, so I pushed on. It was only through God's grace that I did not swerve off the road and hit a tree."

Eliza rolled her eyes.

Robyn's charm and beauty took Trevor's attention away again. Another tall, dark, handsome stranger, lost to her magnetic blue eyes.

A gunshot rang out, and a bullet flew threw the front window, shattering the glass.
