Instantly, a whirlwind shook the small room. Mist filled the space, but not like any mist that the occupants had ever seen. It was thick and blue, and more than just opaque. If you tried to see through it, you would not be able to see anything but blue for a while.
Stepping out of the bizarre cloud of blue mist was a man like no other. Mutated beyond recognition, he was tall and lean, but well-built, and had a clipped way of walking that fit his personality. His face was a sort of cross between lizard, dog, and human, and it was a shade of sapphire that was, while definitely not a normal shade, not unattractive. He wore a long trench coat, under which one could see pawlike feet poking out. And was that a tail?
The stranger wore sunglasses, in a deep blue shade. Everything about him screamed "blue" -- it was impossible not to think of another blue thing (sapphires, aquamarines, the Caribbean) at the same time as one thought of him.
I am Mist, the stranger said, and I would love a cup of tea right about now.
Even though his words were casual, they were spoken in telepathy. Anyone not accustomed to listening to telepathy usually felt a bad case of nausea whenever they were addressed mind-to-mind.
