Chapter #5

Going home

    by: ccc000 Author IconMail Icon
Austin told his dad that you were the perfect size. He said he would be able to use you in a war with his GI Joes. Mr. Franz laughed, while his dad reached over and happily messed up Austin's blond hair.

Mr. Franz picked up the small velcro board and handed it to Austin. "I think your payment has also bought you this. You may need this to strap him down occasionally," he said with a smile. "Cool," Austin yelled, and immediately strapped you back onto it.

Austin's dad laughed as he was still holding Austin's shoes, while Austin raced out the door of the shop in his socks to get in their SUV so he could examine his new little captive more closely. Mr. Franz told Austin's dad it was a pleasure to serve them, and if they ever needed another little man to please come back. They shook hands, and Austin's dad headed for the door.

Austin's dad stopped as he reached the door, and asked "Is there any chance that the shrinking isn't permanent? I mean, is there a danger of him growing back to normal size while he is in the custody of my son?" Mr. Franz assured him that was impossible. He explained, "The human body is made up mostly of water. Since it is a scientific fact that matter cannot be created nor destroyed the only way to shrink a human is to take water molecules in the body and convert them back to gases. So what the shrinking machine does is to break down some of the water molecules back into hydrogen and oxygen gases. When the gases are released the person shrinks. But there is no way to reverse the process. You would have to find a way to rejoin hydrogen and oxygen molecules and put them back into the body. So, there is no need to worry about that. He will always be three inches tall. That is, unless Austin decides he wants to bring him back and shrink him smaller. We can definitely accommadate that."

Austin's dad smiled as he left the shop and made his way to the SUV. He was leaving for a business trip tomorrow and would be gone for two weeks. He knew that he had just made Austin very happy. As he opened the door and got behind the steering wheel he saw that Austin was holding you in his open palm very close to his face examining him carefully. "Be careful that you don't sneeze and blow him off your hand" his father laughed. Austin started laughing at the thought of that so hard his breath nearly did knock you off his hand.

"You know, dad" Austin said as he strapped you back onto the velcro board, "now that he has been shrunk so small he is going to have to get used to spending time down by our feet." He put the board with you strapped to it on the floorboard of the car. The next thing you saw was the dirty bottom of his sock coming right down on top of you, covering nearly your entire body, with his toes resting on your shoulders and only your head sticking out. His dad laughed looking down at you under his foot, "Yeah, you're right, he will have to get used to spending time down by our feet."

Suddenly Austin got a huge grin on his face and he said to his dad, "I can't wait to show him to..."
