Chapter #8

Company

It was Frodo Baggins, greeting Gandalf with an empathetic hello. You watched the greeting with interested eyes, merely scribbling down some notes to appear as inconspicious as possible. Frodo didn't seem to mind your presence either, as one would be quite arrogant to doubt the judgment of a wise old man like Gandalf the Grey.

He hopped onto the carriage and took a seat next to you and Gandalf.

"So are you here for my dear uncle's eleventy-first birthday as well?" he asked cheerfully.

"Yup, I sure am. I'm visiting here from down south as a correspondent to report to my kind how great Bilbo is" you said with a more cheerful than usual voice.

"Ah, but not a second ago you asked me where you could find a good pub young Giljaras" Gandalf reminded.

"Er, it was an indirect question" you replied awkwardly.

"Not to worry, I know of several that will be at the party" Frodo said.

"That is fortunate news" you responded, trying to give your best medieval accent.

Gandalf turned his head with a soft smile on his face, "Ah, but why do you come so heavily armed then?" he asked.

You stared at him as if you didn't know what he was talking about but the sword you carried, Ashrapier, along with the semi-automatic crossbow slung along your back spoke for itself. It was fortunate that DRak had talked you out of carrying your carbine and machine-pistols with you, because that would have really messed things up here.

"Well, I had to travel all the way here myself, and who knows what might have attacked along the way." you explained. Gandalf merely nodded, but to your relief he did not inquire about it further.

Before long, Gandalf reached Bilbo's house, and proceeded to have a nice little conversation with him inside about old times and the sort while you waited in the carriage. Once he and Bilbo got out, you told them that you would;

You have the following choices:

1. Go browsing around until the party

2. Head to a pub immediately

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
