“I don’t think the Sultan was this fat,” Nathaniel joked.
“Oh, but real life Sultans were much larger. You’re still very small.”
Nathaniel was surprised but he smiled sheepishly. “This is amazing, I can’t get over it.” He pushed himself forward to try to get up, but still couldn't.
"Is there some trick to getting up?" he finally asked the Djinn. "Because I don't really want to be trapped on this couch."
"Oh, of course, you don't have servants to help you!" replied the Djinn. "Guess I'll have to do something about that."
"Make me mobile!" Nathaniel quickly said. "I don't really want a houseful of servants," he added, to the Djinn's obvious puzzlement. "The place isn't that big."
"And besides, you want to do it by yourself," the Djinn added. "I've observed that you Americans are very independent."
"That's right!" added Nathaniel. "Besides, what's the sense of being this fat if you can't go out and show it off?"
"All right," the Djinn replied, "I'll make you mobile - you want to be strong enough to haul all that fat, or do you want a magical assist?"
"I don't know - what's the difference?" Nathaniel replied.
"Well, for one of them, I'd have to add muscle, or replace some of that fat with muscle," the Djinn began. "For the other, you get to keep all the fat, but you won't be any stronger - you'll just kind of float. Oh, and if I give you lots of muscle, you'll have a huge appetite - to feed all that muscle."
